In the kingdom of Benes, on the eve of every princess' eighteenth birthday, they are transported to a faraway tower guarded by a dragon. Her champions are tasked with fighting the dragon and bringing the head of the beast in one hand and his bride prize in the other. However, when it appears that Princess Fenice has been kidnapped from her room by a vicious ROGUE dragon, it's a mystery to king and country why she chooses Lailoken (Locke) Vaugrenard to rescue her.

Not even Locke knows why the princess has chosen him. They have never met. However, he knows that rescuing her is the best chance of freeing himself from his family's clutches. Not many think he will succeed, but Locke is determined to win over the princess, even if it means resorting to whatever measures necessary.
