The City-State of Aki use to be a minor town of the country of Banu, which still stands to this day. The leader of the town whose name was lost to time started noticing the neglect that they were getting due to how small it was compared to the other cities.
The leader rallied up the town and declared independence, but the leader of Banu, King Habu, son of Banu III, allowed it, thinking that it was a worthless town and that they would die out soon anyways.
Over on the other side of the country, the last group of dragons banded together to find a new home. They were being hunted to near extinction thanks to Banu III saying that they will never be more than mere animals and like animals, should be hunted.
The most powerful dragon, Aki, was selected as the leader of the group until their journey ended. Aki was small for her size, but thanks to her powerful magic, she quickly rose up. They flew night and day for weeks until they arrived to the mountains near the small town.
This small town had never seen dragons before, and they were fearful of them. They were told stories on how dangerous they were, however, they left the small town alone as long as they did not go out searching for them.
Over the next few decades, the town built up into a city and the dragons claimed their own hunting grounds within the mountains. They never bothered each other, though the dragons grew wary.
Eventually, the dragons thought it to be best to communicate with the humans in case they, too, started to hunt them. They once again choose Aki, since she was still one of the smallest dragons and would not be as threatening as the other dragons would be.
Dragons have one power that no other species have, and that is the power to communicate with any living creature no matter the language. This made communication an easy feat if they could get into contact with the humans.
Aki flew down a little ways from the city and walked to the outskirts as to not fear the humans. It was not long until contact was made, though it was fearful. The leader, though old now, decided to meet with Aki for fear of what would happened if they declined. He brought his top guard, Ati, along with him. Ati might not be able to do much against a dragon, but he could at least get the leader out of harm’s way.
They talked about their worries and were surprised that it went both ways. It was not long until everything was cleared up and a deal was made that neither should harm one another and would respect each other’s territory.
A few years later, the leader being on his deathbed and decided to hand the crown to his son and Aki attended the event out of respect to ensure the deal would not diminish. It was then when the Banu troops was spotted in the distance.
Turns out that the king found out about the alliance between the city and the dragons and was furious.
Ati led the troops out to the battlefield and it was not long before battle broke out. Aki flew off to the other dragons and, after much convincing, got the dragons to fight along side the city. Aki fought by Ati and it was not long until the enemy troop was retreating.
Not much is known about what happened afterwards. It is known that Aki spent a lot of time near the city with Ati. Aki watched Ati train and a bond between the two formed soon after. There are rumors, however, that it went further than just friendship, but either way, they formed together to create a spell that required the magic strength of a dragon, and the broad range of spells from a human, for them both to keep reincarnating within or near the city to keep protecting both dragons and humans that lived there together.
