"Hey Tetsu..."
"Yah Dude?" Tetsu huffs next to him on the treadmil.
Kirishima swallows, and he closes his eyes as he prepares himself for the statement. God, its embarrassing.
"Did- Did you um..." He bites his lip, looking over at his friend,"You think we're good enough friends to talk about "certain" things too, right?" He asks, making sure Tetsu is comfortable.
"Man!" Tetsu laughs, giving a look like it's obvious,"As long as there's not too much detail, I listen. We've been friends since first year dude, its been almost three years."
"Yeah, I know I was just..." Kirishima sighs,"I just didn't wanna make you uncomfortable or anything..." He swallows,"Its really personal."
"Oh..." Tetsu turns his machine off, slowing his run to a softer walk before it stops completely,"Is it bad?"
"No, no." Kirishima shakes his head, then backtracks, brain confused,"...Yes? Some people think its bad..." He mutters, stepping off his own as it comes to a stop.
Tetsu sits down, grabbing his own water bottle and tossing the other boy one. Kirishima catches it, staring at his friend for a long moment before looking down at his own water bottle. He squeezes it between his fingers, heart feeling like lead in his chest.
"I uh..." He swallows, feeling his cheeks flare, and hes glad hes been working out, so it looks normal,"I like guys."
There's a choking sound, Tetsu spitting water over his chin as he presses a hand to his mouth to keep more from spilling over. He coughs a few times, swallowing down what's left.
"As in..." He clears his throat, coughing a few more times before glancing at Kirishima nervously,"LIKE like guys. Or as in, like, good friends that ARE guys."
"As in LIKE like guys." Kirishima murmurs, hands twisted tight around his water bottle.
Tetsu's eyes widen further somehow, and he looks at the floor dumbfounded, teeth poking out over his lip as he bites it.
"I mean..." He swallows, brows furrowing,"Do you like girls still?"
"I mean I..." Kirishima sighs, sitting on the bench as he gives a frustrated look,"Kinda? I just..." Kirishima groans, pressing his head into his hands,"I might be Bi? I like a guys body just as much as I do a girls, and I honestly can't see the difference between the two... But..."
"Do you think maybe you just need time?" Tetsu asks, and Kirishima shrugs.
"Maybe..." He presses the heel of his palms to his eyes,"I just know that I really really..." He takes a breath,"Love someone... And I had to tell somebody who wouldn't scream up a storm. Mina, Kami, and Sero are cool, but they always kid around with me about me liking... This person. And its all a joke, but they never realize that I ACTUALLY like him. They just think its funny to tease. But they don't know that I actually like him a lot. I love him."
"...Its Bakugo right?" Tetsu mutters.
"...Yeah." Kirishima swallows, glancing at his friend as Tetsu stares at the floor with a blank face,"You're not weirded out, right?"
"No, dude, no..." Tetsu laughs a little, rubbing a hand through sweaty hair,"I guess I was just surprised, ya'know. I never really thought about it. So like..." He huffs, smiling warmly as he looks at the red head,"Its alright dude. It was just unexpected, so it caught me off guard." He reaches over, punching Kirishimas shoulder lightly,"Thanks for trusting me with that man."
"Well..." Kirishima huffs, closing his eyes as his shoulders visibly relax,"I'm glad you're ok with it." He sighs,"You're the only one that knows now, besides my own self conscious."
"Woah!" Tetsu smiles brightly,"AND I'm the first to know. That's cool." He then gives a kinda worried look, leaning down to kirishima's eye level,"...Not even your parents?"
Kirishima takes a deep breath, pressing his lips togetehr tight,"I'm... Scared to tell them." He fidgets, pinching his fingers together tight,"My mom is so... Weird sometimes. Shes so stern with some stuff, and then other things shes just like... Chill."
"And your dad?" Tetsu stares at him, and Kirishimas heart sinks some.
"I hardly see him dude, and if I do, thats only if he feels like he's got time for me..." He sighs, pressing his hand to his cheek as he stares at the floor,"The divorce is like... It just felt natural. Ya'know. My dad was never home anyways, and mom is as indifferent as ever. I think their love died out a long time ago, and now that they're legally seperated it just seems... Normal. Even for me, everything seems the same. And it's been, what? Seven months now, and sometimes I still forget they're not married anymore."
Tetsu stares at him for a few seconds, then he huffs, looking at the floor,"I mean... I can't really relate to that man." Tetsu huffs, biting his lip a little,"And I know thats one thing that you want me to keep quiet about."
"Yeah..." Kirishima stares at the floor. His heart hurts a little. Too much has happened lately, especially in his family.
How can he possibly tell either of them that he's gay- well hes not sure yet.
Only Tetsu knows this- and that he likes Bakugo now- about Kirishima. He doesn't wanna tell his besties just yet. Tetsu is really chilled out, easy to talk to, someone he can trust to keep quiet.
His friends are absolutely amazing, he loves them like family. But... Every time he tells them something personal, they wanna talk, tell feelings, give hugs, feel the emotions.
But sometimes you just need to vent to someone, and not get any questions in return. And right now thats all the red head wants and needs. He'll talk about it later, when hes ready. But right now, for him, everything is too fresh, and too new, to even be discussed.
"Thanks for listening." He mutters, and Tetsu nods, smiling as he bumps his fist to the red heads loose one.
"No problemo dude." He huffs, shooting a thumb towards the weights,"Wanna work it off?"
Kirishima feels a smile crawl on his face, his sullen mood lifting some.
"Yeah."
"-said that we have to learn the ropes of paperwork tomorrow so be prepared."
"Aw shit." Kirishima whines, sticking his tongue out in disgust,"Usually Fatgum is so chill about this shit!" He groans, smiling a little as Tetsu and Amajiki laugh at him.
"I'm so glad you came over today man!" Kirishima smiles brightly at his skiddish friend, Amajiki smiling a little,"Haven't seen you in forever. Since you became a pro and all."
"Yeah!" Tetsu pipes up, smiling too.
"I have to say, it was nice to have company... Mirio has time sometimes, but since he got that new job its lonely sometimes..."
"Well just call us man! We can totally hang out if we have the time!" Tetsu says, and Kirishima agrees fully, watching as the older of the two starts down the sidewalk.
"Ok. Talk later then." Amajiki waves, then turns, walking away.
"Dude he looks so weird with short hair." Tetsu finally says the obvious and Kirishima sighs, nodding.
"I knooooow~" He shrugs,"I mean its not that its BAD. It's just, I'm so used to the longer hair, plus he grew it out since my first year here so its like-"
"Way different." Tetsu chuckles, turning down the other sidewalk,"Enjoy lunch dude," He waves,"I'm gonna go catch up with Kendo and them for a bit."
"Ok, talk later." Kirishima waves some, walking down the sidewalk towards the cafeteria.
He sighs as he walks inside, going towards to the table he always sits at, seeing his friends sitting around it. As he nears he sees Kaminari leaned over it some, all of his friends leaning in close to hear what the blond is saying fervently. Bakugo sits layed back in the seat, but his eyes look slightly startled, eyes kinda wide.
Kirishima slows his stride some, bag halfway off his back as he gives his friends a confused but curious look, smile gracing his lips as always,"Um. Hey guys."
Kaminari's whispers cease, hazel eyes blowing wide and shooting up at the red head. Three other similar looking pairs look up at him, and Kirishima raises a brow.
They're silent as he slowly sets his bag down, confusion lacing his mind. They're acting weird, did he say something earlier, is it a new rumor he's missed.
"Um..." He stares at them, looking at all their shocked expressions. Even Bakugo looks mildly shell shocked,"Did I miss something? Whats with the looks?"
"N-Nothing!" Mina squeaks, yanking his bag the rest of the way down onto the bench and scooching out of his seat and over into her own next to sero's,"Sit down sunshine boy!" She smiles brightly.
Kirishima feels like there's thousands of eyes on him, sitting down at his normal seat. His friends stare holes through his head, all of their eyes flicking away everytime he glances up.
It's silent, too silent. And Kirishima suddenly gets the feeling that it's not because of a rumor he hasn't heard yet.
"Is there something wrong? Did I say something?" He glances at all of them, watching as they either flinch or fidget nervously,"Guys?"
Bakugo is silent. Of course he is, how can he possibly speak right now. But something about the way he glances at the red head, then looks back at his phone is too weird for the normal "Bakugo vibe."
"Seriously, you're making me feel really anxious right now..." He says softly, laughing nervously,"Is it something I did, cause you guys were talking up a storn before I came over."
He watches as they all press their lips together or open their mouths to speak, then close it looking conflicted.
He sighs, standing,"I'll just um... Go grab my food. Maybe when I come back you guys will be able to tell me, ok?"
They all nod silently, and he feels a tad bit better that he got that much, turning and making his way to the salad bar.
After taking- a very long time- at the food bar, he comes back, sitting down and opening his chopsticks. He glances at his friends, watching as they all eyeball eachother, daring one of eachother to speak first. Bakugo, of course, stares at his phone absentmindedly, eyes bored.
Kaminari sighs loudly, rolling his eyes at the other two as he looks at Kirishima. The red head looks back, and as his friend raises his brows, opening his mouth, Kirishima nearly chokes on his own breath, swearing his heart stops.
"Dude, are you gay?"
Kirishima stares at him, chopsticks held tightly between his fingers. He feels his cheeks heat up, his hands stiffening along with his body. His lips part a little, a sunken breath falling past them as his heart starts again, this time beating too fast for him to notice.
He doesn't know what to say, his ruby eyes staring at Kaminari as if he'd seen a ghost. His lungs feel constricted, his skin stiff, and feet cold. His head feels too hot, and his muscles too tight.
And as he speaks, his voice breaks,"Wh-Where'd you hear that?"
Kaminari stares at him, then looks kinda taken aback,"Does... It matter? I just wanna know man, I mean, we're besties."
"I-It does... Matter though." he swallows, brows furrowing as he looks at his plate of food.
Where did- did Tetsutetsu tell them? Did somebody hear them? Impossible, they were the only ones in the gym that night. So maybe Tetsu did say something? But his friend wouldn't do that, he hasn't betrayed kirishima's trust for three years and vice versa.
So what-
"Are you?" Mina persists,"If you are why didn't you tell us?"
"Cause I-" Kirishima looks up wide eyed,"Where did you hear this a-"
"And why did you hide it?" Kaminari asks next.
"Wha-"
"Do you not trust us?" Sero says, and Kirishima mind reels, brain spinning.
"Was it-"
"Is it-"
"How come-"
"STOP!" He bellows, and he flinches as something snaps it his hand. He looks down, chopsticks held tight between his fingers. The wood splinters against his hand which is covered in his quirk. He nearly gasps as he realizes his face is scrunched into a glare, and he feels his heart leap in his throat as he also realizes he just screamed at his closest friends.
He looks up, eyes wide as his land on four others. Mina, Sero, and Kaminari all stare, looking taken aback and shocked. And Bakugo looks no better, crimson eyes staring at him as his phone lays loosely in his hand.
"Um- I- uh-" He looks between all of them, and he feels suddenly alienated, watching as all his friends give sullen looks or upset expressions. He didn't mean to yell. He was just-
"I-I'm sorry-" he shoots up, forgetting about his food and snatching his bag up. They all say something as he strides off, head facing the ground as he feels something burning behind his eyes. He didn't wanna yell, so why did he yell? Now they're all probably upset with him. He shouldn't just yell for no reason, that wasn't manly at all.
Damnit.
