The final bell rang, and all of the students began to swarm the hallways. I headed to my locker to put my things away before I had to hurry to the island's school bus. As I arrived at my locker, Michael stood next to it. "Michael? Can I help you with something?" 

"Do you drive?"

"Yes, but I took the bus. Why?"

"I'm not sure which bus to take, because my mother won't be able to get me. So, I was wondering if you could take me home, but since you didn't drive I'll just figure it out," he said walking away.

"Michael," I screamed shutting my locker and running after him. He turned his head towards me, "Where do you live?"

"Near the island bridge." His family must really be part of the ancestors.

"You can take my bus. It stops right before it goes over the bridge. Do you want with me to the bus?"

He hesitated, "Sure." He followed behind me slowly but didn't say a word afterward. Once we reached the bus, he went on before me.  He then sat at the first open seat that was free. I went to go sit next to him when he decided to put his bag next to him. "I'd rather be alone."

I nodded and went further back a couple of seats to find an empty seat. As the rest of the students came onto the bus, I looked out the window. "Allison?" I turned my head to notice that someone had sat next to me. 

"What do you want Jack?"

"Well, I want a chance with you."

"I've already told you that Madison would be heartbroken."

"I don't understand why that matters Ally."

"Jack," I started. I had prepared this speech since I figured out he likes me. "Madison is the cheer caption. You are the football team's caption. It would make sense for you to date her in the social groups we are in."

I had stolen a peek at Michael who was smiling the whole time I started talking to Jack. Jack caught me looking at Michael. "Oh, I get it. You're into the new goth kid." Michael was not goth, but he was dress in dark clothing. He also was eavesdropping on the whole conversation. 

"Why would it matter, Jack? I don't like you, and I never would date you." I screamed as I squirmed out of the seat to find a new seat. There happened to be an empty seat next to Nicole. As I went to the seat next to her, Jack grabbed my arm. "What the hell Jack?"

"I don't understand Allison? Why would you like a nasty ass dude?"

"Jack, I'm not arguing with you about who I do and don't like."

He finally let go, "Allison?" Michael said.

I turned to look at him. "Come sit here with me." 

I got up from my seat next to Nicole and moved next to Michael. "Thank you," I said.

"No problem, you know I can beat him up for you if you want." 

I laughed, "Nah, he's just desperate."

"To get into your pants," he whispered.

"Lol, true."

We both started balling out laughing. As the bust drove away, Michael and I started talking and getting to know each other. He was everything I expected him to be. 

We eventually reached the stop before the bridge to the island. I got up to let him get out, "Well I'll see you tomorrow." 

I laughed, "Yeah, I'll see you then."

"Goodnight," he said walking off the bus. As soon as he left and the bus started to ride over the bridge, Nicole moved to sit next to me. "Was that the new kid?"

"Yeah, it was. His name's Michael."
