Today was the day, I start my Alpha Training. Dad walked me to the Alpha Labyrinth, a lot of the grown Alpha’s were queuing up for their turn through the maze. We walked past the exit and up to Alpha Rodger he was currently talking to a Beta who had a stopwatch and it was still going.
“Alpha Rodger,” my dad greeted and the two talked for a bit. I decided to talk to the Stopwatch Beta.
“Hi,” I said and looked at the long line of Alpha’s waiting for their turn through the bushy garden.
“You going next?” The Beta asked and I tilted my head, “You have 10 minutes to get through the Alpha Labyrinth, if you can’t make it out in that time, I’ll send in some Alpha’s to escort you out. There is no set limit to how many times you can go through the maze, but do wait in line as there are many who also want to try.”
“Ok, but if I walk out in the set time limit do I pass?”
“Yes, not many have passed this test, but if you are confident that you can make it out before the Alpha’s find you, it is also a pass.”
“Is it only one at a time or will other waiting Alpha’s come after I go in?”
“Only one goes in, Kid,” just then a huffing Alpha ran out of the maze exit to my right. The Beta gave me the go-ahead to go in so I went in. Unaware that I wasn’t supposed to be in the maze yet until after my Alpha Training was finished.
I felt the same tugging guiding me through the maze, it felt urgent, like I have to move quickly. I didn’t quite understand it but mom always told me to trust it no matter what. So I started at a quicker pace, letting it guide me to where I need to go.

“So when will my son take the Alpha Labyrinth test?” Alpha Darius asked unknown to him that Angel had already gone in.
“There might be a chance that he won’t take it at all, it takes half an hour or more to finish that maze. You should know this, Alpha Darius, it took you nearly an hour even with the help of your wolf. One week of Alpha Training won’t help for this task, only adolescence and adults can go into the Labyrinth.”
“But knowing my son, he’ll want to try it anyway,” Darius argued not wanting to upset his Omega son and insist on spoiling the child.
“I understand, once the week is up we’ll have your son go through the Alpha Labyrinth with two Alpha escorts. You know as well as I that the Labyrinth is dark and the smell is overpowering not to mention that the turns are confusing.”
“Please make it out, Angel.”
“What was that grandpup?” Rodger asked looking at the small pup standing beside him. Salem pointed to the Labyrinth.
“Angel went into the Alpha Labyrinth two minutes ago,” Salem said. Darius and Rodger went into a panic.
“You allowed a child to go into the maze!” Rodger yelled at the Beta keeping time.
“I thought he was one of the late Alpha’s that was scheduled,” the Beta answered calmly. “It’s fine, I gave him the rules and the time limit. I have two Alpha’s on standby to go into the maze in six minutes.” Salem watched the exit for movements of Angel hoping that he’ll make it out in time.

So many turns! There’s no way I can beat this in the set amount of time!
Unless.
Do they think I would stop and cry out?
Yes, that had to be it, they doubted me. No one would believe me because I’m Omega-Born, what Omega can make it through the Alpha Labyrinth?
‘You can,’ I heard a deep rumbling voice, this made me stop and look around. I was already out of breath and it seemed time was against me. ‘I am Justice Nighy, an Elite Omega. Please, Omega Angel, use my strength, use my speed, I’ll give you my power to be the Elite Omega you are meant to be!’ the voice howled and I opened my eyes, feeling a strong surge of energy.
I started to run.
The tugging was now pulling me to where I need to go, it felt as if I was filled with electricity and fire. The fire roared inside me and the lightning growled its rage as I ran. I suddenly felt like two legs weren’t enough so I used my hands, it felt like everything was sharper, I could see the smallest dust particles, smell the smallest scents, hear the smallest sounds. Then, there it was! The light I was searching for, the exit! I growled as I ran faster and suddenly I was free! My energy died down as I stopped breathing heavily.
“Angel?” I heard my dad’s deep rumbling voice and looked up at him. I was happy to see him, but he didn’t look happy. Did I do something wrong? “You, you found your wolf?!” I was then picked up and cradled, the Alpha’s started to howl at seeing the newest pack member. My dad held me up showing the pack the new wolf I had become. Alpha Rodger took me from my dad and held me higher, the Alpha’s lost it and howled and soon the whole basement was filled with the echoing howl. I also felt excited and started to howl with them.

When everything settled down again or as settled the pack can get after hearing the news of a new wolf, since that was a big deal in the pack, dad walked us home to show mom my new wolf form.
Mom was excited to see a jet-black wolf with such a pink nose and paws, earlier she heard the howls of excited wolves and joined in not knowing that she was howling for her son.
“My son found his wolf! How exciting!” she hummed and started to dance with me in her arms. When a new wolf appears it means they are at the age of adulthood, it normally happens when someone is between the ages of 12 and 14 the age of puberty. It was also a time when you are presented as either Alpha, Beta, or Omega.
Our pack was different, even if you are born into that second gender you could choose where to go as long as you know your limits.
Most Alpha-Born go Beta because the Alpha Training is too harsh or they just don’t fit in with the role of Alpha.
Omega-Born can become Alpha’s or Beta’s because they don’t feel like a gentle Omega.
Beta-Born can either be Alpha’s or Omega’s or stay as they are, even though they are normal and don’t have a wolf they can still help out the pack.
Just because we can change our second gender status, we are still treated as our born second gender despite having changed. Even though an Alpha-Born is considered Beta they are still treated as Alpha. So if an Omega-Born wanted to be Alpha they will still be treated as an Omega. It wasn’t perfect but at least there was little dispute because of this, Alpha Rodger had set it up like this, but it wasn’t his ideal plan for things to change in name only. Alpha Franklin saw this and wants to enforce it so that our status of our chosen gender was our natural gender.
I want to help with that.
I’m Omega-Born, I’ve always known this, but I want to be an Omega that is strong like an Alpha and gentle like the Omega I am. If I can do this, then surely I’ll help Alpha Franklin with his goal as well.
Mom set me down in my room so I can shift back and put on some clothes, not only were they ripped apart but they were also scorched and burned in the Alpha Labyrinth. I walked out dressed and saw my mom and dad kissing. I went back into my room quietly and checked the mirror in my room.
I froze at what I saw, my hair was still black, my inner ear fur was still white, but my eyes. My eyes were no longer dark, they were a pinkish red. Why didn’t my dad or mom say anything about this? What if the others saw? I quickly ran out of my room and to my parents.
“My eyes!” I said scared that someone could have seen.
“It’s fine son,” my mom said smiling at me like nothing was wrong. “Just leave the contacts out for a while,” she added.
“I’m sure no one saw son, they might just be happy to have a new pack member,” my dad added patting my head.
“But,” I wanted to argue, no one was supposed to see my pink eyes, they are not supposed to know that I’m an Albino wolf! ‘Young Elite Omega, calm yourself. No one noticed,’ Justice if I remember correctly spoke to me. “Are you sure, Justice?” I asked.
“Justice? Is that the name of your wolf?” my dad asked. “Justice Nighy is a great black and grey timber wolf, and just as his name entails, he stands for justice. I never thought I would hear of the great wolf in my time,” my dad was amazed.
“They say that wolves back in the old days were given names based solely on their personality and what they stood for or what they were good at. Justice Nighy, or more accurately Justice Knight was an Elite Omega wolf. He protected the pack with fierce fire that shot from the sky,” my mom said.
“That’s what Justice called himself, Elite Omega Justice Nighy,” I said.
“Elite Omega wolves were a special task force far greater than any strong Alpha wolf. Elite Omega was granted special powers to help them fight against dark forces that wanted to harm our pack,” my dad said. I was amazed at all this, could I become the Elite Omega just like my wolf in the past?
“I can see why you want to stay an Omega,” my mom said gently, “please don’t feel too pressured to become like Elite Omega Justice Nighy.”
“You’ll still be treated with respect,” my dad added.
‘They don’t believe that you can become an Elite Omega, are you ready to prove them wrong?’ Justice said.

Alpha Rodger stopped by our house to pay a visit to the new pack member. They were talking of my extended Alpha Training Alpha’s inspected the Labyrinth and found my burned clothes.
“The first week will be introductory to Alpha Training, after that we would like to keep him in Alpha Training until he turns 14 where he will be introduced to high school,” Rodger said.
“That means we,” my mom started then quiet down thinking, then nodded. “If that is what my son wants,” she said sternly.
“All evidence points to your son being Elite Omega, we would like to help with his training. We believe that he will bring back the Elite Omega’s and right now, we need them more than ever.” Alpha Franklin spoke up, “He will also show that not all Omega is weak as the pack believes they are.”
“I want to help,” I quickly said, “I want to be an Elite Omega, I’ll train hard,” I said.
So it was settled, I would be staying in the Alpha Dorms from now on until I’m 14 when I can go back to my mom and dad. I celebrated with my parents and then again with the pack where I’ll be introduced fully as a pack member.
I stood on the stage beside Alpha Rodger and Alpha Franklin, I can see a lot of wolves gathered before me. This is where the pack accepts the new wolf or rejects them. Since I’m still young I don’t know what would become of me. Most times the wolves at least knew basic survival, if they were rejected they would have to leave the pack and live on their own. I can only hope that I’ll be accepted, I glanced down and saw a familiar Alpha. It was Salem, he smiled at me and I somehow felt safe.
“Pack of North Waters, I am pleased to announce the good news!” Alpha Rodger started, “Our pack is growing and I’m happy to bring in this young wolf before you!” I stood taller as I faced the many wolves. “My son, the next Alpha, Alpha Franklin will introduce our young wolf.”
“I, Beta Franklin, introduce to you Omega Angel Unique Crowther and his wolf Omega Justice Nighy,” murmurs sounded through the crowd.
‘What is an Omega wolf doing with two names?’
‘Omega? Should we keep him?’
‘We don’t need another dumb Omega in the pack.’
‘Why couldn’t we get another Alpha or Beta?’
‘So many Omega’s nowadays.’
‘Our pack is weakening with so many Omega’s.’
The pack quieted down and I still stood tall as if it would change their minds in keeping me. I will not be bothered by this, I already knew that the road I choose would be rocky and uneven. I’ll work hard to be a great Omega. Alpha Franklin was starting to get nervous and was about to speak more until a single howl started. It was a strong howl, that of an Alpha. I looked to the one howling and it was Salem. Soon, other young Alpha’s joined in and then more Alpha’s, then Beta’s and finally the Omega. I relaxed and looked to the Alpha and he nodded that I could now howl too. So I did. I didn’t know if everything got quiet while I howled or if the other wolves had stopped howling. It sounded as if I was the only one howling and little by little I could hear other wolves again.

I was brought to the Alpha’s Den towards the Alpha Dorms where I’ll spend my next seven years. It was basic, not like my own room that had small knickknacks and colour. This was white and grey, a simple bed, a desk, a lamp, a chair, a dresser. It also felt quieter in here, I looked through my dresser and seen white and grey clothes. Seems like I’m going to have to get used to this new rule.
No printed ice cream pyjamas.
I laid down on the stiff bed and felt tired.
‘That’s the Blacklash, it’s a state where you blackout from using your element too much when you are not used to it. It leaves the body drained and you’ll not remember much of your change.’ Justice explained. I just hummed and started to drift off to sleep, full from the food and exhausted from the excitement and anxiety.
Salem kept me. I smiled at that thought.

I woke up feeling energized, I got dressed in the outfits that were in the dresser. I grimaced at the plain look, it was a white t-shirt, and grey sweatpants, the jacket was a white and grey thin track jacket. At least it had a hood, so I made my way to the Alpha Training field, well that’s what the signs say as I followed.
“Alpha! Get ready for a morning run,” a strong buff Alpha called out, “Once you worked up an appetite you can head to the canteen for some nourishment.” So that was how our mornings start, we ran for what seemed like an eternity until the Alpha called for us to stop and go eat. I was exhausted as I followed the other Alpha’s.
“Angelique, good morning,” Salem said as he walked beside me.
“That’s not my name,” I said confused as to why he would call me that. Did he hear wrong at my introduction?
“Angelique, do you know where your classes are?” Salem seemed to ignore me, and I started to get mad.
“Why not just call me Angelo or Que? Angelique sounds,” I wanted to complain more but Salem wasn’t having it.
“Hey, will you howl first when I’m presented?”
“I’m an Omega, I can’t do,” he likes to interrupt.
“That doesn’t matter, just howl first,” Salem said and grabbed a tray of food? “I don’t care if you are Alpha or Omega, howl first for me,” he smiled as he sat down and started to eat quickly. I’m miffed by the table manners. I sat down and ate quietly, afterwards Salem patiently waited for me to finish and we were off on our way to class.
I quickly sat with a bunch of Alpha’s with one open desk beside them, if I’m going to howl first for him, then I’m going to make a lot of connections to support me for the coming day. But first, I need to introduce myself to them, and this is nerve-wracking. Most Alpha’s don’t take kindly to an Omega making the first move. So this could go two ways, they ignore me or pick on me for being so brave. I’m not looking forward to this, but I need to be like an Alpha. I need to fit in and show them that I can be strong as them on any given day.
