As soon as I entered my house, I looked into the mirror. Think. Does this man look familiar to you, Mina? I raised my bangs up and looked at myself. Whose body is this? I smirked and winked. Now that I think about it, I do kind of look handsome. I walked to my office and switched on the computer, sitting down. I took a picture of myself then went onto google images. I dragged the file into the search bar and searched. Google loaded for a second then ‘no search results’ popped up. I smashed my keyboard with rage. “How am I meant to find out who this person is?! Or where in the world is my original body?!” I cried, slamming my head on the table. I wanted to just cry, and that's exactly what I did. I cried for almost an hour straight. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I stopped when I saw the perfume bottle Perseus on my desk. I gritted my teeth and pushed it on the floor. It dropped on the hard, wood floor but didn’t break. I got up, walked to the storage room, grabbed the hammer in the toolbox and stomped back to my office. With all my might, I pounded the hammer on Perseus.
“YOU LITTLE SON OF A %!@#&, BECAUSE OF YOU MY LIFE HAS BEEN $%#!@ DESTROYED! JUST @!#$& DIE YOU PIECE OF &$#%@. %@#&! I HATE YOU!” I cursed, trying to smash it. I breathed heavily in and out. I looked at the bottle, expecting to see it smashed to shreds but the bottle was in a better condition than me. I gasped.
“Did I not smash you hard enough?! DID YOU NOT HEAR ME, PIECE OF %!$@#, !#@%$. DIEE” I said, smashing it again and again. But all of that was useless because the bottle was breakless. My phone started ringing. I got up and grabbed it.
“Hi is this Mina?” My mum cried into the phone.
“Mum- I mean ma’am, I told you Mina didn’t take her phone to the vacation. But is there a problem? You sound worried.” I replied.
“I’m not sure if you know him but her best friend Jay got into a serious accident. He’s in the hospital and he just had a cardiac arrest. The doctors are sure that he’ll die,” My mum sobbed.
“W-what?” I dropped my phone and ran outside.
I was at the hospital. I ran up to the receptionist. “Excuse me, do you know where Jay Enger is?” I hurriedly asked.
“Jay Enger?” The woman at the desk typed his name on the computer. The woman frowned.
“Jay had passed away 3 minutes ago…” The lady sniffed.
“No-no…” I pulled on my hair. My mum was leaving a room, sobbing.
“Mum! I mean Mina’s mum! Jay didn't die! Did he?!” I cried, running towards her. I didn't want to believe that he died.
“He… he did pass away,” she wept. I choked and coughed.
“W-what do you mean?!” I cried, trying my hardest to hold in my tears. I clenched my fists and bit my lips. “Well, where is his room?!”
“Where I just came out from. Does Mina know about this?” She asked, wiping her tears.
“N-no, I haven’t told her.” I stammered.
“Why’d she have to go on a trip at this moment?! Oh, poor Jay!”
I gulped and ran into Jay’s room. Jay had a blanket covering his entire body. I just wanted to rip it off. Jay can’t die! Not now, not today! His parents were crying and 2 doctors stood around his body. Jay’s mum looked at me.
“Who are you?” His mum asked.
“I’m one of Jay’s friends. My name is Daniel… I'm sorry for your loss.” I replied.
"Oh!" she sobbed.
“I’m afraid all of you are going to have to leave.” The doctor requested. A tear fell down my cheek and suddenly I felt a tingle and then the air smelt like really strong perfume. Something was shining in my pocket. I reached inside my pocket and grabbed the perfume bottle inside it. It really did follow me around like a pet. It was sparkling unlike before. I sighed and put it away.
I was back at home and all I could do was cry. “I’m sorry Jay. I was too late. I couldn’t even see you in your final moments. Why did you have to die so early?” I cried. Why did he die now, when I’m not even Mina, I’m this weirdo named Daniel who has no life. I wish I could save you Jay. Why does my life suck so much? I sadly, walked to my bedroom and cried myself to sleep.
