That’s his weakness.
Primordial gods are the 5 ancient first gods/ goddesses, he is one of them.
They are Gaia (earth) Tartarus, Eros (desire) Erebus (darkness) , Nyx (night).
But that’s a story for another time.
Erebus and Nyx are Thanatos’s parents.
Another version of the myth is Eros as Aphrodite’s son.
