Turtles CANNOT be stopped. CAN. NOT.
I remember seeing an interview many, many years ago on some Discovery Channel [or perhaps History Channel before it became... well, not the History Channel] documentary where a well-known paleontologist, I believe it was Robert Bakker, actually used the survival of turtles past the KT boundary as evidence that it couldn't have been an asteroid impact. After all, any asteroid that would have killed the dinosaurs would surely have killed off all the little turtles. But, nope! Turtles 1, Non-avian dinosaurs 0.
This comic would have been much easier to draw if we hadn't discovered that theropods were feathered. Stupid giant chickens!
Whither the jackalope? Neither one thing, nor the other, a creature out of step with the world... perhaps we are all jackalopes, then, from time to time. Remember old school comics where smart characters hung out in a meadow all day making wry observations while absurd things interrupted them from time to time? Miss those? Yeah, this is one of those.
