Back at Suming hall, Lan Quan was brewing the medicinal elixir and making fresh batches of medicinal pills to be used by the immortals he served. His temper had long since dissolved into a state of calmness while stirring the cauldron with rapt attention.

"Kai Zhen! Bring me the endless blue bell flowers that is in the top shelf!"

Silence met his call, this made Lan Quan to pause midway to look around him using his inner sense to seek out the whereabouts of his disciple.

"Where could that lazy disciple of mine have run off to?"

It was then that Lan Quan release his spirit energy of dazzling blue into the cauldron as a binding agent.

"The barrier is in place, so why can't I see where he is?!"

Puzzled that he could not point out where Kai Zhen was, Lan Quan intensified his search. Thinking that he wasn't using enough spirit energy to sniff out the hiding place of his only disciple.

"He will show up when it's time to eat.... Moreover, he isn't strong enough to break my impenetrable barrier! This is very important; I need to get them to the heavenly emperor!"

The Medicine King's used his spiritual energy to open the top shelf where the plant that he need was.

To Lan Quan, getting the medicinal elixir and pills to Qilin hall was more important than looking for a mischievous disciple.

Unknown to Lan Quan, the disciple that was under his tutelage had long since escaped out of the barrier with the help of a Faerie who misused the magical tool that was meant to maintain balance in the nine heavens and mortal realm. Earlier, Lan Quan sensed the disturbance in the barrier around Suming hall, but he assumed that his disciple's spiritual energy was not high enough to safely break free from the barrier, never would he have thought that another would collude with Kai Zhen.
