After the much-needed relaxation, Nick still had no idea what to think or feel, but he decided to try to figure it out. Since he couldn't control his dreams, he decided to try to understand his feelings for Mia. The best way to do that seemed to be by chatting on Facebook with her.
He could feel how hesitant she was in person. However, it seemed as if the distance provided by social media made her feel more comfortable.
They started their chat in the most boring way possible, but when she told him she just finished watching a movie, they started talking about it.
Then they moved on to different topics, some of which he had no idea how they reached.
The conversation was flowing more naturally. It seemed to Nick that the walls Mia had built around her heart and soul weren't as strong when she was chatting on social media.
Although Nick wasn't sure, he had a feeling that it wasn't only about social media. It seemed to him that she was also able to feel the connection that drew him to her in the first place.
Mia was clearly an intelligent and funny person, but she didn't seem to be used to people seeing that part of her.
Nick tried to limit the number of compliments he gave her because she seemed uncomfortable with those.
However, it was difficult for Nick to stop. It was the first time he had many honest compliments to give, and he had to try really hard not to let them all pour out of him.
It fascinated him to see her open up, to see into the mystery that was Mia.
She told him she loved horror movies, and it was so different from his friends that he couldn't help but share his shock. Luckily for him, she didn't get offended for the stupid comment he made but told him that everyone had a similar reaction.
That was one of the reasons she stopped sharing that side of her with other people. Of course, he wanted her to share every part with him but couldn't very well say that.
So they chatted about horror movies, scenes that they found the scariest, and so on. It was the strangest conversation Nick had ever had with a girl.
"I know this may sound cheesy, but I have this strange feeling that I have known you my whole life, maybe even longer.
I know it sounds like an awful pickup line, but I promise you it's not. I feel like I know you and we are just getting reacquainted," Nick admitted after three hours of continuous messaging.
"Honestly, if anyone had told me that before, I would have considered it a horrible line but now... Now I am not so sure.
"It is strange, but I feel similar. Like meeting someone you knew and haven't seen for a while, the interaction is strained and awkward at first, but once you start talking, you start remembering each other. You suddenly find the rhythm that you didn't even know you had with that person. Then you understand the other person but not because you learned how to communicate but remembered it.
"Wow, my explanation sounds crazy, but the feeling is similar," Mia wrote.
And Nick had a feeling even by only looking at her message that she was probably blushing, and he wished he could see it.
It had to be adorable.
Nevertheless, he said: "No, not at all. That is exactly how I feel. It's just that I am not as eloquent as you are. But I think we both have the same feeling."
After chatting a bit more about some irrelevant things, they decided to call it a night with the promise that they would message each other again the next day.
An accidental meeting might be a lot more than then Mia and Nick bargained for. It's not what either one of them expected but only one of them is ready to accept the feelings that start developing. Will they be able to accept the fate and enjoy it?
For some reason, Nick keeps having vivid dreams that feel more like memories about a guy named Mark. Is there some connection between the dreams and the present? Why does he seem to have powerful feelings for both the man of his dream and the woman of is waking hour? What does it all mean for him?
