“Like our Elite Alpha’s?”

“Yes but more stronger than them. They were our Guards, they protected us from unseen forces. But there was a sickness that struck the world.”

“Covid-19.”

“No, after that. This sickness specificly attacked Shifter’s. Covid only prepared us for what was to happen next, this sickness made the Shifter’s skin rot and smell of death. Not only that it changed our bodies. Before we were only Shifters, but with this sickness we gained new genders. While our bodies changed our Wolf Spirit helped us as best as they could. And some of their solutions was to give Omega’s powers to fight against the Rotting.”

“Sounds like your trying to get the Elite Omega’s back.”

“A strong Pack is all I want for the future, you could see it in that Pup’s eyes can’t you? He never weavered from our gaze like all Omega’s do, he made strong decisions for himself without our prompting. He could be an Elite Omega or close to it.”

“What are Elite Omega’s? What do they do?”

“After the Pup graduates from Alpha Training, we’ll put him with either the Elite Alpha’s or the Delta’s. It depends on how he reacts to the training, since Elite Omega’s were trained to control their powers they were then trained to be strong, then to kill when needed.”

“So, Omega Crowther knows that he can be stronger if he stays an Omega?”

“Trust the Pup, trust that he can be as great as an Elite Omega.”

“I trust him.”

It was a week after my Omega Test and today was the day I start my Alpha Training. We were to meet Alpha Rodger at the Alpha Labyrinth, I was both excited and nervous. I started to wonder if I was to take the test now. The Alpha Labyrinth was located towards the dark wall and the entrance was green and leafy. It was the same with the exit we just passed, the wolves lined up towards the door on the dark wall. Alpha Rodger stood beside a seated Beta between the exit and entrance.

“Alpha Rodger,” my Dad greeted and my attention turned to the Beta. Looking at my Dad and the Alpha I decided to walk over to the Beta.

“Hi,” I said looking at the Beta, an Alpha growled at me for it.

“You going next?” the Beta asked ignoring the Alpha. Tilting my head I wondered if I really am going next. “You have 10 minutes to get through the Alpha Labyrinth, if you can’t make it out in that time howl and some Alpha’s will go in to get you. If you haven’t reached the end in 10 minutes I’ll send in Alpha’s to find you and escort you out. You take the test twice a day after the first scheduling. If you decide to take it again after your first failed attempt wait in line.”

“Ok but if I walk out in time do I pass?”

“Yes, not many passed on their first attempt. Just a warning,” the Beta glanced to the exit, “If you make it out before the Alpha’s find you that is also a pass.”

“Only one at a time?”

“Only one enters, Pup,” just then a huffing Alpha ran out of the exit. “You’re up, Pup.”

Walking in I was surrounded by darkness and the urgency to run.

So I ran.

My Instincts will tell me where to go.

“So when will my Son take the Alpha Labyrinth Test?” Alpha Darius asked, unknown to him that his Son was already taking it.

“There might be a chance that he won’t take it at all, it takes half an hour or more to finish that maze. An with only one week of Alpha Training won’t do him any favors, the test is also for adolescence and adult wolves.” Alpha Rodger stated folding his arms.

“Knowing my Son he’ll want to take it anyways,” Alpha Darius argued not waavering in the slightest if it’s for his Pup.

“I understand. What do you say we change the week to seven years? He’ll stand a better chance with that much on his teeth.”

“What do you think, Son?” Alpha Darius looked to where he thought his Pup was but found the space empty. “Son?”

“Missing Pup!” Alpha Rodger howled, he was going to say more but the Beta stopped him.

“He went into the Labyrinth 3 minutes ago,” the Beta stated.

“What? You allowed a Pup to go into the Labyrinth? I should have your fangs for this!” Alpha Rodger growled.

“Relax, he has 10 minutes to get as far as he can before I send in the Delta’s. I’m not sending Elite Alpha’s or Alpha’s after him since they won’t be able to sniff the Pup out. If anything happens I told him to howl.”

I ran breathing heavily as I searched for the next turn or pull to tell me where to go. This was also the first time that I ran for so long, everything was hurting. There’s no way that I can get through this in time!

I stopped nearly tripping over my little shoes, a thought had occured. “They think I’m a weak Omega-Born.”

The thought made me want to cry. There’s no way I can get through this test in time, there’s no way that I can find the way out. Buckling to my knees I tried to slowly breathe but panic had set in and started to seer through my viens into my head which was starting to ache.

‘You can,’ a deep rumble sounded from behind me. I look back and saw nothing but darkness. I growled getting up to my feet shakily. ‘I am Elite Omega Justice Nighy. Omega Angel I’ve been watching you for quite some time and I believe you are my Pup to watch over. Will you use my powers?’

“Powers?” I asked unsure looking for a wolf that was not there.

‘I’ll give you the powers of an Elite Omega, the powers to get through the Omega Test.’

“This is the Alpha-”

‘It changed over the years, if you do not want to accept the powers that is your choice. But think of the strength you’ll gain, the respect. Don’t you want that? Don’t you want to prove that you are Strong?’

“Yes,” I felt an electricfing feeling and stared at my hands that was sparking with blue light every now and then. I felt the strong urge to run, turning around I can see a faint light from the left.

This surge of energy.

This electifying power.

My feet started moving on their own.

I started to run!

Charging forward I felt light, it felt so freeing! The tugging was slack but I still felt where I need to go. I followed it as it loosely let go and soon I felt the growl rumble in me. The tugging was replaced with an electic spark and I followed the sound.

Suddenly the pace felt so slow so I started to run with my hands as well, the scents around me was sharper, my sight caught dust in the air and I can hear the Pack outside. Growling I started to run faster until I seen a blinding light to my right. I was free of the maze, I breathed heavily looking down. I was shocked to see that those were not my hands, but paws. Black paws.

“Son?” I heard my Dad’s shocked voice and looked up to him. I felt so happy to see him but he didn’t look as happy. Did I do something wrong? “You... you found your wolf?”

Dad rushed to me and picked me up craddling me for a moment before raising me higher. I can see the whole Den and the nearby Alpha’s started to howl. I was then quickly passed over to someone taller and heard my Dad howl. I always loved hearing his howl and couldn’t help but howl with him and heard it echoing in the Den.

When the Den settled down or as settled as it can get after a new wolf was found, we walked home. Dad carried me insisting I stay in my wolf form until we’ve shown her my newest accomplishment.

She was excited seeing my jet black wolf form, my ears and tail remained the same but my nose and toes were pink or a dark pink I can’t really tell with the dim lighting now. “My Unique found his wolf! I’m proud of you!”

She took me from Dad quickly and hugged me and started to dance with me. Normally finding our wolf means we’ve reached the age of maturity, 12 to14, it is also the age of when wolves are presented as their choosen Rank.

Most Alpha-Born’s go Beta because the Alpha Training is too rough or just don’t fit in with the Rank.

Beta-Born’s can’t properly choose since they are the normal wolves in the Pack. They can’t smell or hear properly like the Alpha-Born or Omega-Born. They are in the Rank of Beta or Omega. Most stay in Beta for obvious reasons.

Omega-Born’s can choose Alpha or Beta as long as they know their limits. Omega-Born’s are normally raised gently and meek. I want to change that, I want to prove that Omega-Born’s were not as weak as we seem.

Besides even if I do choose Alpha I’ll still be treated as an Omega-Born. Just because we change our status doesn’t mean we change who we are, we have natural born traits within our Rank.

I’m glad Alpha made this rule but I don’t think it was to change our Rank in name only, I also think that Beta is trying to change it fully. We have the same idea in a sense, if I can prove that I am strong then my Rank can be at ease.

I was set down in my room so I can shift back and put on some clothes. Dad says that when I shift my clothes get ripped up so I’ll need to be careful when I Go Wolf. I opened my door and saw my Mom and Dad kissing and I quickly and quietly closed the door.

I didn’t even realize that they wanted a few moments alone.

‘Backlash,’ the deep growl said, ‘It’s when you use too much power that everything is exhausted and lacking... Uh tired and slow.’

Curious of where the voice was coming from I looked in the mirror and froze.

My eyes were not dark, backing away I tried to calm my breathing. Did anyone see the color of my eyes? Will I be rejected?

I ran to the door and opened it, “My eyes!”

“It’s fine Son, you need to rest them when your at home,” Mom smiled.

“No one noticed Son, I put in the extra’s when I picked you up. We’ll get some proper contact lenses for when you shift.” I relaxed at my Dad’s words and his gentle pats as he hugged me. I’ll have to hide my eyes until then.

“Son?” I heard Mom ask before I fell asleep in Dad’s arms.

“Darius... think... ok... let our Son... Omega...?” I drifted in and out of sleep hearing Mom and Dad’s concerns with what little I’ve gathered.

‘They don’t think you can be an Elite Omega,’ Justice said and I remembered my Wolf Spirit talking about it. He told me that Elite Omega’s were a special task force that protects the Pack from dangers that can’t be seen. If I listen to my Wolf Spirit I’ll be a proper Elite Omega, a very powerful wolf in my Pack. ‘Are you ready to Prove them wrong?’

Once I was fully awake, Alpha stopped by to check on the Pack’s newest Pack Member. Since I was out for a few days I missed out on the Alpha Acceptance Ceremony that was the start of my Alpha Training. Dad told me that it won’t be for a week but 7 years if I want, Justice had told me to take the 7 years.

I wasn’t told the reason why I can pick between the two but if I can stay in longer my wolf was happy. Mom and Dad were sad that I would be in longer but supported my decision and wished me a Good Hunt.

I stood on the stage where I am to be introduced offically to the Pack.

Since I was to be in the Alpha Training this was more of a formality and since I was too young to fend for myself if I were to get rejected.

Only wolves 12 to 14 can be introduced to the Pack when they found their wolf, I’m half that age so I at least won’t be exiled to survive on my own without proper training.

Looking at the large Pack only some of the wolves showed up and I wondered how many more wolves were here.

“Angel,” I heard my name and looked for the voice, I saw Salem there waving at me happily before his hand was slapped and was told to shush. Salem smiled up at me and I couldn’t help but feel safe.

“Pack of Northern Waters, I am pleased to announce the coming of our newest Pack Member!” Howls errupted, interrupting the Alpha. “Our pack is growing and I’m happy! The one to bring our newest Pack Member in will be my Son Alpha Franklin!”

“I, Beta Franklin introduce to you Omega Angel Unique Crowther and his wolf Omega Justice Nighy,” murmur’s from the crowd.

“An Omega?”

“Can a Omega have two Names?”

“Surely this is a joke right?”

“Isn’t he suppose to be an Alpha?”

“I know! He’s suppose to be taking the Alpha Training!”

“Our Pack is weakening with so many Omega’s now a days.”

I continued to look out at the Pack, these were my wolves to protect. My path is a road that isn’t an easy stroll but I know the Moonlight will guide me.

The sound of a young howl sounded, it was Salem. He was Alpha-Born and since the ceremony was for the strong to accept the Pack Member’s only Alpha’s can howl first, then the Beta’s and the Omega’s last.

Other Alpha’s joined with Salem and soon the whole Den was filled with the voices of wolves. I look at Alpha and Beta and they nodded and I joined in the howl. It felt as if the Den was cast in silence where only I was heard and slowly I can hear the wolves again.

I was taken to the Alpha Den that was behind the stage and from there we followed the sign that pointed towards the Alpha Dorms. It felt cold in my new room, it was also bare and colorless. A black box frame bed, black dresser, gray desk and gray walls.

It was quiet.

I looked through my dresser and found a white shirt, white sweatpants, a grey shirt and grey sweatpants. Five pairs of white socks and underwear.

Seems like I’ll have to get used to the new rules.

No printed ice cream pajama’s.

Looking at my clothes I wondered if I should change my light blue puppy printed shirt and dark blue pants.

I decided against it and stepped out to look around more. An Alpha was standing by the door and I stared at him for a moment.

“Scent your Door so you can find it again,” I stared at him confused. Until Justice spoke up, ‘Take your wrist and rub it against the door.’

Doing as I was told, the Alpha stared at me as I sniffed at my door. Satisfied that I can find it again I closed my door and was about to walk around until the Alpha stopped me.

“Follow me,” Alpha instructed and so I did as he pointed out the Bathrooms that all Alpha’s share, there was no privacy but there was assigned lockers so that was nice. He took me to the room beside it where there was some Washer’s and Dryer’s, he gave me a run through on how to work them and repeated it with me trying. We went to the Cafieria next where it was a large room and I was lead to the area where I’ll be getting my food from.

The cooks introduced themselves to me before going back to work. They looked stressed, the Alpha seemed at ease while talking to them. We left them alone and I was taken to the open area where most of the Alpha Training will begin. We headed to some stairs and I was shown the classrooms where we will learn. The Alpha kindly shown me back to my room and now I understood why I should scent my door. There was so many coming back.

“If you need help, my name is Oscar. I’m the Alpha of the Alpha Den. If you can’t find me then look for Snoopy, he’s my Beta. Good luck Omega,” Oscar walked away and I went into my room and laid down on the stiff bed.
