"Well, I'm grateful I have you taking care of me or else I wouldn't be able to go to the selection ceremony tomorrow." He continued mentally coring his fingers that he guessed the name of the event right since it was a pretty plausible name and he just wanted her to keep talking. The girl laughed softly. "You mean the ritual of apprenticeship? I can assure you; you won't miss it. And I'm sure you will become an amazing ShuCha one day." She said her face still softly red not showing any sign of confusion of him using the wrong name for the event.
"I really hope you are right... But I'm only a yellow-coloured soul." He sighed giving off a look of resignation even though he had no idea what that mend but until now it hadn't sounded like something to be proud of. "Don't look so down yellow coloured is still a low-mid-level soul colour. It might not be blue or indigo but still, you can get far with a mid-level soul." She said trying to comfort him. Mo Shin Yun gave her a half-smile. "I hope you are right." He said once more the quickly added another question just to keep the conversation going.
"The young man who brought the wounded guy over. Who is he? He looked so stoic and strict. I even felt he was staring at me as if I did something wrong." The girl burst out laughing at his words. "Right? It feels like you did something wrong whenever he looks at you. At first, I thought it was just me but then the other acolyte told me they felt the same. I think it's just his position that is giving him too much trouble. As one of the head disciples of the military division he has to keep all the juniors in check and with a job like that I would also look angry all the time." She answered right away agreeing with his words. Then as if he only now realized it, she clapped her hands. "Ah, right you are new here. Let me give you a quick overview."
At first, Mo Shin Yun didn't think he would get much out of the conversation but the girl seemed to be really talk-active and as someone working in the hospital pavilion, she knew all the gossip about this place. Apparently, he was currently in the process of becoming a disciple of the Shin Yu sect. Since he was going to be a ShuCha himself... Whatever that meant. The girl only gave him an overview of the military division and the priest division of the sect. The young man who just came in was Lu Jun Yu he was apparently one of the head disciples of the military division and was the one entrusted with training the low-level martial arts disciples. Other than him there were three other head disciples. All three ranked higher than him and according to Wang Ha Yon the girl who told him all this, there was a lot of tension between the head disciples because the master was showing favouritism towards his youngest disciple.
But that wasn't all. The sect master was also strongly pushing for his daughter to marry Lu Jun Yu which led people to believe the master wanted to make his youngest disciple his successor. But what not many knew was that the military divisions master's daughter was having a secret relationship with one of the ShuCha head disciples. This led to rising tensions between the ShuCha division and the military division. And since both the master of the military and the master of the ShuCha division were in the circle of elder leading the sect there always was some new gossip going on.
And in the middle of it all was the priest division. The master priest really was having a hard time these days trying to mediate between the ShuCha and the military division master while still trying to keep a natural stand. Since they were also in charge of any medical facilities in the sect making it impossible to take a site. "Especially because as a priest or priestess you have to swear an oath to be impartial and always try to safe those in need." Wang Ha Yon added smiling a little proudly. Mo Shin Yun gave her a big smile as he thanked her for giving him all these information. Most of it was gossip but it still was really helpful to understand this world.
"Now I have to go check on the freshly advanced sky level but if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask." She was about to get up when Mo Shin Yun quickly stopped her just remembering something else, he wanted to ask about. "I have one more question. Is there a library here and can I access it?" He asked. The girl smiled nodding her head. "We do have a really big library pavilion it is part of the priest division since we are seen as natural ground. If you get chosen by one of the teachers tomorrow you will be able to get permission to visit the outer circle of the pavilion." She answered and then went over to the other patient.
With a deep sigh, Mo Shin Yun laid back once more thinking over what he had just learned. First, he finally knew where he was: The Shin Yu Sect. and he knew why the previous owner of this body had come here and why he was here now. It was to become something called a ShuCha though he wasn't yet sure what that was it still was better than knowing nothing. After that, he had gotten a bunch of information about not only the sect but the world itself. In this world, there were three big cultivation paths. The first was as expected martial arts he didn't know who it worked yet but he was pretty sure that it had to do with the legendary golden core you would hear so much about in martial art stories.
The second path was pill refining. This was probably similar to the Daoist's medical pills but with a lot more effects and actually real. The people following this path seem to be committed to helping people even swearing an oath much like doctors in his previous world. The last path was this so-called ShuCha. This was the path that was still mysterious to him and probably the path he himself would follow. Other than that, he had gotten his hands on a lot of gossip about the leading elite of the sect. Though he wasn't sure if it would even come in handy since his soul didn't seem to be powerful enough to become one of the lead players.
After having gotten so many new information Mo Shin Yun started to feel exhausted again. At first, he had been able to push away the exhaustion by engaging his brain by trying to figure out as much as possible about his current situation and this world. But he realized he had learned as much as he could without having to get out of this bed. With a big yawn, he pulled the blanket up snuggling his head into the pillows. Soon after he fell into a restless sleep. His dreams were filled with memories of his previous world especially his death and the feeling of betrayal he had felt when his life had ended before his time was up.
At one point he yanked up still feeling his whole-body arching but it was more like a bad muscle ache than the absolute exhaustion he had felt before. His body was covered in a cold sweat and his breathing was agitated. The hospital pavilion was covered in a silent darkness. By his estimation, it was probably really early in the morning when the night sounds went silent and the early morning animals didn't yet wake up. Taking in a few deep breaths he tried to calm himself down. He didn't really know what woke him up. Of his dreams only a haze remained and looking around he couldn't find anything else that could have woken him up. Letting out a slow breath Mo Shin Yun laid back down trying to get some more sleep bevor he had to get ready for the ritual of apprenticeship.
Carefully rolling on his side he was about to close his eyes and get back to sleep when suddenly he spotted a dark figure near the entrance of the hospital pavilion. Trying to make out who it was he squinted his eyes but couldn't see clearly through the darkness. The figure went over to the medicine carbine opening a few of the drawers then closed them back up quietly leaving. Mo Shin Yun sighed finally closing his eyes. It was probably just one of the priests refilling the pills.
The next morning, he was forcefully awakened by Lee You Sin who was again pinching his cheeks. "Mo Shin Yun hurry up and get out of bed. Or do you want to miss the ritual?" She hurried him out of bed pushing him towards the door not even giving him time to wash up. "Hurry... We will be late because of you... No wonder grandpa asked me to keep an eye on you. I had nothing but trouble with you since we got here really." She complained in her normal brisk way of talking. Mo Shin Yun could only go along with her trying his best to avoid getting pinched again. For some reason, Lee You Sin really felt like a nagging mother or older sibling. "Why do you always have to nag me like that?" He mumbled unhappily. Even since he met this girl, she had done nothing but complain about him and nag.
"If I don't do it who will?" She answered giving him a stern look. Mo Shin Yun had no answer to that question since he didn't even know his mother. "Don't you think I'm old enough now to take care of myself?" He asked since he had no other rebottle for that question. "Mo Shin Yun the day you stop making me worry is the day you are old enough not a day earlier." The girl replied before turning to a group of young men and woman all dressed in blue and indigo waving with a big smile. They had walked down the halls and through the gardens of the priest division and were currently getting closer to a big two-level pagoda. In front of the big doors was a small crowd of people maybe about twenty or thirty all in different coloured robes. By now Mo Shin Yun had guessed that the robe colour was probably the soul colour since his robes were yellow. But he wasn't yet sure.
"Mo Shin Yun stop gazing into the air and hurry along, the seniors and our fellow initiates are waiting." Again, Lee You Sin was trying to pinch his cheek to pull him along but this time he quickly avoided her hand giving her a mischievous smile as he walked over to the entrance of the pagoda. The building was mostly black and red with two massive stone beasts standing left and right from the few steps leading up to the entrance. Mo Shin Yun couldn't tell what beast they were looking like a lion with a long winding body and big imposing wings.
He stood there looking at them in amazement when suddenly the doors to the pagoda started opening with a loud sound. Turning to look Mo Shin Yun was even more impressed. The building really was massive and from the door, he could only see parts of the inside. The ground was inlaid with multiple complicated jade inlays and the sides of the pagoda were glowing lighting up the whole room in a beautiful mysterious light. Stepping inside Mo Shin Yun tilled his head back to look at the two-story-high ceiling. The highest point of the roof was covered in darkness and for some reason, Mo Shin Yun had the feeling something was moving up there. But he couldn't make out what it was. Still, his head tilted back he stumbled over something. Quickly catching his steps, he looked down seeing the jade inlays now close up.
They were truly beautiful craftsmanship and each inlay looked like something was moving inside it like a flow of energy all moving from the centre of the building to the walls. Following the flow with his eyes, he could see that even the light emitted by the walls looked like it was flowing upwards towards the ceiling. "I heard the Hall of Selection is built on a lay-line core that's where the sect gets a lot of its energy from." Someone whispered next to Mo Shin Yun giving him an explanation for what he was seeing.
