After a couple of hours of movie watching, snoring could be heard from the theatre room as a member of staff who had come back from their lunch break walked into the theatre room to check on whoever was in there. They saw the five girls sleeping on the floor with Jackie hugging a plush frog and Aurora hugging Jackie. Ivy was hugging her pillow. Cascade was snoring while Aniran was hugging her blanket. The member of staff smiled seeing this. They remember being told of them by Ray and how they had something different about them. Aniran had glowing eyes, Cascade had a tail, Ivy had red eyes, Aurora had furry ears and Jackie had blue hair. They didn’t know if this was true however but from right now, they looked fairly normal now. No ears, no glowing eyes, no tail and no blue hair. The member of staff walked back out, relieved that they’re okay, hoping to quietly close the door. After a couple of minutes, Jackie felt herself waking up and she quietly yawned. She looked around, wondering what time it was before doing a double take to the seats. There was a masked figure sitting there, his legs leaning on the seat in front of him. He had the appearance of a dark prince according to Jackie. “You again?”
The masked figure squinted his eyes to communicate with her. “What’s happening now? Aren’t you supposed to be in my dreams or should I say nightmares? Or am I getting worse?”
“Oh don’t be so melodramatic. But this is a new change. Finally something’s going to happen other than you moping about a pen pal and what other stuff you mope about.”
“Is that a threat? Also, do you have a name yet or do I still call you ‘Dark Prince’?” Jackie asked, getting up from the floor and stretching, giving Aurora her frog plushie.
“See it however you want. At least you get it right. But then again, you’re the only one I haunt. I’m burying the lead here. You five have slept through the day and it’s around the afternoon on Earth. When is this party again?”
“Somewhere around 6pm? What time is it right now?”
“I believe around 3 earth hours before that.”
“Oh, so 3pm. I’ll wake up the others and let them know. I’ll ask if they wanna go back to my place early so we don’t have to squeeze through sweaty people.”
“Look at Little Miss Independent here. Just let me give you something to remember.”
“What are you going to do, make me tired again?”
“Not at all. But just know it’s not just a cold.”
“Huh?” Jackie looked back up and he was gone from the seats. “Okay..” She brushed herself off and gently woke up the other girls. “Huh?” Cascade squeaked out, her throat feeling dry. “It’s the next day apparently. You wanna head back to my place so we don’t have to do it later tonight?”
“Hm? Sure.” Cascade pushed herself up and cracked her neck. “Wake the others up and I’ll wait for you guys outside.” Jackie helped Cascade up as she collected her things. “Chill. I shall.”
“Thank you.”
Jackie walked out of the theatre room and headed back to Aurora’s room to get her bag of stuff. She kept thinking about what ‘Dark Prince’ said to her about ‘It’s not just a cold.’. She felt like she knew but she didn’t know why she couldn’t remember. She picked up her bag and walked out of Aurora’s room, heading outside the foster home where the other four girls were waiting next to the destiny path and it made Jackie confused. “Wait, how long was I in there? Did I disassociate again?” She asked, feeling nervous. “Nope, just casual clothes we had. Come on!” Cascade grabbed Jackie’s hand as the group ran up the destiny path and back to Jackie’s place. When they got there, Jackie moved to the front and put her keys in, unlocking the door. She opened it and let the girls in first before walking in herself and locking the door. “Dad! We’re home!” She called out before hearing a cough from upstairs. “Is he home?” Aniran asked, looking around and placing her stuff down. “He is, I think he’s upstairs. You might wanna bring that stuff upstairs to my room, I'll be there in a bit.” Jackie gave Aurora her bag and ran upstairs, walking to Ray’s room and knocking on the door. “Dad? Can I come in?”
“..Yeah..”
Jackie slowly opened the door where she saw Ray laying in his bed, a box of tissues next to him and his face looking worse than before. “Are you alright dad?” Jackie walked out and sat on the side of the bed. “I’m fine sweetie. This cold is a bit more than I expected. The party’s still going to happen though. I might ask Danny if I can borrow his mask. The GL one.”
“Ah, well the girls are here. We’re gonna chill in my room. Do whatever. You know. Do you need anything? Medication? Soup? A hug?”
“I don’t want to get you sick honey. It would cause a chain reaction. I want this party to go well. But you don’t have to join in if you don’t want to.”
“I know dad. Just let me know if there’s anything you need.”
“Of course. I love you sweetheart.”
“Love you dad.” Jackie gave Ray a little hug before walking out the room and sighing. She got back to her room where she saw Aurora and Cascade setting up the Nintendo switch to show up on the tv while Ivy and Aniran were helping each other into their party outfits. “He’s alright.”
“How alright tho?” Aurora asked.
“I think he’s going to have a nap. He’s looking worse than before so when everyone starts to show up, I’ll bring them in and get them comfortable. Even though I don’t wanna.”
“But that’s a good thing Jackie, you’re pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.” Ivy said. “True. I’m gonna go for a nap in my closet. Wake me if you need anything.”
“Wait, I wanna see how you did it!” Cascade got up and went over to Jackie, helping her open up her closet. “Ooooo..”
“Yup. My little bean place.” Jackie moved around to sit in her closet. “Pass me the Aviici blanket.”
“Didn’t he die a long time ago?”
“Yeah.”
Cascade passed the blanket to Jackie and then hugged each other. “Thanks Cas. Wake me up when there’s food or something else.”
“I will.” Cascade closed the closet door carefully and then went back to the floor with Aurora. “How much do you wanna bet the place will be trashed by tomorrow?”
“Hm, 5.”
“Cool.”
“Bet.”
After a couple of minutes, The girls apart from Aurora were in the party outfits meanwhile Aurora was wearing her onesie. They were watching a movie on the TV.
“He murdered Caddric Faine, we have to do something!”
“I know, but he knows my brother. And you know much about my brother.”
“I know. We need to do something though! I’ve got some plans.”
“What so?”
“You talk to Nanda and I’ll talk to Elias.”
“Alright.”
Then there was a knock on the door. Aurora called out quietly. “It’s open!”
The door opened slowly, showing Ray. “Hi Jackie’s dad!” Cascade turned her head with a smile before looking concerned, so did the rest of the girls. Ray’s colours were faded and he looked annoyed. “Evening girls. Do you know where Jackie is?”
“Uh, she’s in the closet having a nap.” Ray looked at the closet and then he looked back at the girls. “The party’s beginning soon. You can come down if you’d like. Call if you need anything.” He said with disdain. He closed the door after him leaving the four girls in shock. “What the fuck, was that?”
“I have no clue but did you see his colours?” Aniran pointed out.
“Maybe he’s trying to push through the cold? I mean Aurora sometimes gets like that with her allergy.” Cascade added.
“Yeah it could be that!” Aurora agreed.
“But that’s with allergies Cas, he has a cold.” Ivy explained.
“How about this, me and Cascade go down and see what’s up while you and Aniran stay with Jackie and stuff.”
“Yeah. We’ll sneak to the kitchen to see if it’s anything he’s ate.”
“Cool.”
Aurora and Cascade left the room as Aniran walked over to the closet and found Jackie awake on her phone. “I thought you were having a nap.”
“You guys put on Until The Sky Falls. How do you expect me to have a nap with that movie on?”
“Ah, did you hear your dad?”
“Yeah, he sounded annoyed, probably pushing himself to host the party.”
“Just wanna ask, does his hair usually become faded and does he usually look like a zombie when he has a cold?”
“....No?...”
“Fuck.”
