My dungeon experience started to become boring because of the endless wave of Skeletons showing up.
They don't even possess a threat, and I don't get any rewards for killing them.
The first wave of Skeletons intimidated me until I remember they were the weakest monster around here.
I won't complain if I found the loot I promised by Voice, but I am empty-handed. At least the inside is nicely decorated with banners and light crystals.
.
Another fifteen minutes full of walking and killing skeletons passed. Now, I am talking to Voice even though it didn't answer me because of boredom.
"Voice, do you know any interesting stories you could tell, or I should tell mine?" I waited a bit, but it didn't answer as I thought.
"Okay, I start telling it. When I was in the first year of military high school, some Juniors decided to do something undisciplined and pick someone from the first year and show that unlucky kid who is the boss in their way."
I waited a bit, hoping Voice will comment, but it kept his silence.
"They picked a skinny guy to bully. Their prank was rather curial. Stealing someone's cloth could be acceptable because we always have replacements. You get some push-ups as punishment at best."
Losing epaulet is something unacceptable. It could go far as expelling in some situations. Poor guy, he wasn't prepared for what's going to happen to him.
"After this joke, they run a little wild by bullying others. It lasts until we beat the shit out of some of them."
"At a parade practice, they painted the flag our group going to carry, which will end for all my class if one of the supervisors didn't saw the guys who did it."
You need to know one thing our flag is something important for our people as the religion for a pope. Disrespecting will cause severe problems for you, and it's not for only our flag. It doesn't matter which nation.
"Now, back to my story. We opened the flag in front of our supervisor, and we saw doodles and scribbles all over it. Some of my classmates because of fear, some of my classmates paralyzed at where they stand."
"One of the Juniors started to talk about how our class was disrespectful to our traditions and disciplinary rules. I won't be angry and try to explain the current situation to our supervisor, but my father was there at the moment."
Humiliating in front of my father, especially in an urgent thing like discipline, made me go nuts. I grabbed the junior from his shoulders and punched him from the face."
I didn't care about what will be my punishment or anything at that moment. My only focus was killing the asshole who tries to boss me.
As he took the first punch, it tried to protect his face from the next one, but I kicked him from the nuts, then from the abdominal cavity, which caused him to puke.
It wasn't enough for me. I need to see blood! I kicked from the face and started to hit his face to the ground until his nose bleeds.
Soldiers came and separated me from the junior who was lying on the ground and groaning in pain.
Later, I learned about our supervisor's knowledge of who did this shameless act and wanted us to give them a lesson from my father.
They didn't even come close to our class after that day, and I gained great respect for having the guts to beat someone in front of high-ranking military officers.
"Look how time passed as we talked, or at least I talked."
I found a big wooden door at the end of the corridor. The door was decorated with carvings, looking very similar to a spider.
"Caution! Strong monster alert! One's current level is enough to enter the fight, but it contains danger."
I started to open the gate slowly. What is the worst thing that could happen? I will die anyway if I don't loot these places.
The hinges of the door probably rusted, after not being maintenance
for a long time because it makes an unbearable voice.
I found a passage leading to a room. The whole place looks covered in dust and spider web, and I could see skeletons or rotten corpses of different creatures.
Because of the unbearable smell, I rushed to the end of the passage, where I opened another door.
Something big was sitting in the middle of the room. It looks bigger than Draugrs but much smaller than the giant wolf. It is probably an elite monster or something like that.
At least I got a challenge inside this dungeon. Stupid skeletons only took my time.
"Voice, could you name this creature for me." I pointed my finger at to giant skeleton spider.
"Skeletal Spider, rare monster. One will receive a gift if it manages to kill it."
It is risky but receiving gifts from killing strong monsters is my only chance of killing a boss monster.
Now, let's inspect my enemy. It has similar anatomy to spiders I know, eight legs, two fangs at front for biting. It uses his front legs as hands, and probably for attacking too.
From his movements, I can say it has the agility of a goblin and maybe a little more.
Looking at the goblin corpses, I can say it has a strong penetration attack. Probably coming from front legs.
I don't know how it fights, but dodging and attacking in openings seems the best strategy.
"Now, let's see who's the stronger friend. Human against the Spider, flesh against bone. Come to me with all your strength!" I hit the ground with my hammer and made a challenging sound.
Skeletal Spider accepted my challenge with a screech. I don't know how it made that sound, but a creature making sounds without vocal accords is the last thing I will be surprised in this world.
Just like my every battle, I need to learn my enemy's behavior first. I can't dodge or block an attack that I don't know where or how it comes to me.
For example, Wolves have high agility and deadly bites, but they leave an opening after them every bite attack, which I use to kill them.
Adaptation is one of the most critical parts of surviving is. You need to know what your enemy will do before it does it.
For now, I will try to separate his limbs when it tries to attack me. I am not sure if this strategy will work or not, but I think it's worth trying.
"Come to me with everything you have, monster scum!"
Spider screech and attacked me with his left front leg. I dodged it with a fast jump to the back.
I started to understand his attack pattern, if something gets closer, it will attack with his fangs, and if something tries to keep its distance, it will use his front legs to attack.
At his current agility, I can't punish this behavior. His hit-and-runs are so fast I barely managed to dodge it, but what if I had something to block his attack for me. I will have an opening big enough to punish his aggression.
I need to increase the distance between us. The room is big enough for me to move back without hitting the wall anytime soon.
I stopped because I step on something mushy, a goblin corpse! Why this gives me an idea?
