Ryder POV
People usually talk about Karma, but Fate is the real pain. See Karma- you can keep it at bay until you do something stupid. Fate does whatever the heck it wants, regardless of who you are or if you're nice or rude. Today, Fate was bored and decided to meddle in my plans of being a phantom.
I just had to get to Math 5 minutes late because the janitor didn't want anyone to slip. I just had to fall asleep while pouring vinegar into my volcano. I mean, how old do you think we are. When was the last time you saw high school students get excited about a model volcano? And I just HAD to run into Thomas while heading to change my clothes.
Before I continue, there is one other thing you need to know. The people at this school nor my previous one are human, except me. Thomas is a centaur, as are most of the football team. David and a few others are pegasi. Now I know what you are thinking. Winged horses are just flying around the school?! Well, no. The people here that are "myths'' to people in different parts of the world have only been seen and illustrated in their most comfortable form, The Origin. As you get older, you develop the ability to blend in with humans. Nowadays, you don't need to hide from humans very often because they have accepted these mythological creatures to be a reality. Unless you are freely walking around, you are in a gang, or you are battling over territory, you tend to stay in Camo. Now back to me and the jerk that we talked about last time.
Here we are again. I finally caught you up. Thomas presses me further into the lockers, and I wince at the pain. I was about to do something when I remembered what my mother had said. "Calm down, Ryder. If you don't want this to happen again, you need to control yourself. Nothing good will come out of that... thing you have IF you don't apply what is right to help you." I take a deep breath and look at David, who is frantically trying to get Thomas to let me go before a teacher comes out of the classroom. I turn back to look at my attacker and calmly say, "I'm sorry for walking into you. It won't happen again." I see a flicker of laughter in Thomas's eyes, but David is beyond confused. "It better not, or next time, the lockers won't be the only thing that they will have to repair. Just a warning." I nod as he takes his hand away from my collar. I hear him laugh about me being a wuss, then nothing. "Douchebag."
