One Unfixable Mistake

One Unfixable Mistake

Mar 23, 2021

Summer had been dreading this day from the moment she knew it was approaching.
It was the week before Spring Break. Today was the day Summer would be given her first-term math exam. She took a deep breath.
A few sheets of paper were placed on the desk in front of her, by a hand that was strangely hairy for a woman.

Summer stared at the first page of her test.
1 + 1 = ?
What is this, kindergarten? Summer thought. I am literally in 5th grade, and I thought this was gonna be hard!
The next question was just as simple as the previous one. Summer continued to scribble down the obvious answers all the way down the page. She had completed pages 1 and 2 in fewer time than a minute. Now she had to go onto page 3.
She turned the thin paper, expecting to see another question that isn't even hard for 1st graders.
But she was wrong. There was a multiple-choice question.
She scrolled across the words with her eyes, and pressed her pen down on the circle next to the 3rd choice, and swiftly dragged her pen off the page to create a checkmark.
No, that's not right.
She reached her hand into her messy desk in search of an eraser.
She swerved her hand around the items inside, feeling them to identify what every object was.
She kept searching until she sighed in relief. She lifted up a very old, very used, and very grey eraser. She lifted it onto her page, where the checkmark was, rubbing hardly and quickly with the rectangular piece (well now it was really just a clump) of vinyl.
It wasn't working. The mark wasn't dissolving even the slightest bit.
But then Summer realized: She had written it in pen. She didn't know what to do now, but she would have to figure something out soon, the clock was still ticking...

Nice! You said "papere" instead of "paper" when she turned her paper in.

DeskTopia was a nice place. All the school supplies that lived there got along and helped each other. They all lived for excitement, but living inside a 5th year's desk made adventure a rare thing.

But, as most of the school supplies lived in harmony, one did not. The king's youngest son, Isaiah Ink, wanted to be king, but as he was the youngest of the three royal sons, he would never get that chance. He urged for revenge. And after that moment, the town of DeskTopia became inked out.

Could this be the adventure DeskTopia had been hoping for?
