"What took you so long?" Gerard bluntly asked as he crossed his arms and raised his eyebrows, looking like a strict mom.
Bryle just didn't respond and apparently ignored Gerard's presence. For the time being, Bryle seemed to be on his edge ever since he saw that man again for the second time. He felt like the time has been hurting him since he doesn't want any connection from them anymore. So why did they see each other again? What if that man will continue appearing in front of him again and again? And Bryle would be having no choice but to see the man, hurting him again as he knew he'd been in that way ever since that man gave him a cold treatment.
"Wanna take a nap," Bryle lifelessly said before putting his head down to his desk.
Gerard sighed and just continued working on his assigned sheets. As for Leloux, he couldn't get near with Bryle since he had been avoiding Gerard for the whole time. There was nothing to fear because he's a powerful demon who wishes to do whatever he wants, but if he's near Gerard, he left no choice but to stay away from him as soon as possible. It was annoying and hard for him that he's acting that way just for a mere human like Gerard. He's protecting himself from a human. That made him think lowly of himself ever since he realized he's doing that for these past days. The thought of a demon protecting himself against a human wasn't defining his demonic existence.
Since he couldn't approach Bryle, Leloux passed the blame to Gerard instead. Eyebrows met and forehead wrinkling, Leloux never stopped cursing Gerard on his mind. And since Gerard could feel someone gave him a never-ending cold stare, he turned around and unintentionally caught Leloux for glaring at him. Leloux didn't flinch but instead, he clenched his jaw and tightened his fist while still glaring at him. Gerard just didn't react and was thinking that it's a childish act if he took it seriously. Afterward, he exactly continued what he was doing. After seeing him just continued minding his own business, Leloux's upper eyelids raised in a stare.
In the meantime, while Bryle was taking his time to sleep, something was weird happened to him. He was so sweaty and was even trembling on his desk. Gerard seemed to be so focused on his assignment so he wasn't able to notice Bryle. But then, Leloux was able to perceive so he stood up and was concerned, waking up Bryle.
"Hey! Are you okay?" he shook him up.
That was the time when Gerard noticed what was happening. Leloux and Gerard tried to wake him up but they received no response from him, instead, Bryle continued sweating and trembling. Time after time, as they were still concerned for his state, Bryle's body temperature went high and his sweat became extremely cold.
"G-Get him to the infirmary!" commanded Leloux to Gerard. "I can't let him die except me taking his life," he nervously thought while clenching his fist.
Gerard then piggybacked him and the three of them ran to the infirmary. Their classmates just stared at them and started to gossip about Bryle being weird since earlier. Meanwhile, girls were so worried not for Bryle but for Leloux, who was so concerned with someone for the first time. No one knew what's the real motive of Leloux so of course, they see him as a kind and caring person---too much for his fake image to be their idol.
After taking Bryle to the infirmary room, Leloux was about to call the professionals for them to check out Bryle but the thing is, they were in the faculty room, not here in the infirmary. Leloux got pissed off and so then, he ran towards there to call for an emergency. This moment was the first time that Bryle had a deep fever ever since they become friends with Gerard. Henceforth, Gerard was suspicious about it as Bryle himself would rarely get attacked by this kind of condition.
"What's wrong with this brat?" Gerard facepalmed himself while shaking his head, worriedly.
Few seconds had passed, Leloux finally came, slamming the door while huffing, probably from running from the infirmary to the faculty and vice versa. When he stepped inside, a crying nurse showed up behind him, wiping her own tears and cried silently---her face looks like she's been scolded by someone. So then after seeing her, Gerard came up with the idea that it was Leloux's fault that this nurse was crying, so he glared at Leloux for taking this way too far.
Leloux didn't notice Gerard's glare but he rather pulled the nurse harshly towards the bed where Bryle was lying. "Here! Look what's happening on him!" he shouted restlessly to the nurse.
The nurse sobbed while checking on him. While Leloux was about to go insane being concerned with Bryle, Gerard just looked at him with a blank face. He wondered why does this Leloux take this way too seriously that he even made the nurse cry. Gerard was so sure that it was just sudden fatigue that made Bryle collapse and is in this situation. Probably, all of the students would know about this, so why does a biology student like Leloux called a nurse even though they could just take care of this matter themselves?
"Take this medicine since the patient is just restless," the nurse handed the medicine to Gerard and subsequently, she covered Bryle with the blanket. "He will wake up once he gets hungry, so please assist him with his meal," continued the nurse.
"Alright, thank you so much, Miss Rivera," smiled Gerard to the nurse. The nurse just grinned at him and took a glance towards Leloux. Unfortunately, Leloux glared at the nurse so she sobbed and cried again, running hopelessly outside.
"Why did you do that? Is that the reason why the girls were so crazy about you? With that attitude of yours?" Gerard scoffed.
Leloux smirked, "Why? Are you jealous of me? Of course, you are. After all, I took Bryle from y---"
"What a real scumbag," Gerard groaned, throwing the medicine to Leloux. "With that childish attitude of yours, let's see how long you can take me," Gerard continued, smirking.
"Is he pissed off? If so, then I win this time," Leloux thought and smirked.
Gerard started walking away and was clenching his jaw in anger. "If something unusual will happen to him, I'll come to you," Gerard warned him.
"What? Is he threatening me?" he grinned, thinking that even if he's a demon, no one could stop him even if he's powerless in front of Gerard.
Leloux came up with the thought, "Maybe I should take this opportunity to kill him?"
He leaned forward to Bryle's chest without touching it and then he quietly listened to his heartbeat. Every beat of his heart, Leloux grinned in a way that he's enjoying it, and also, he counted one to five as if Bryle's incoming death was depending on numbers.
"Doom-doom, doom-doom," he whispered while simultaneously keeping up with the sound of his heartbeat. Bryle wasn't in a good condition so obviously, his heartbeat is also unusual. But for Leloux, it was the heartbeat of death.
"Oh," a sudden change of his mind while looking at Bryle, "Then... should I kill the baby first?"
After coming up with that idea, he smiled and was greatly pleased to have a great mind thinking that way. Thanks to his creative thought, he would be having more fun taking part and playing someone's life.
