The young princess shuffled a bit as she sat just off from Caelyn
and the strange wolf beast-woman who the dark elf seemed to not like.
The two seemed oddly familiar with each other, and while the princess had
mostly gotten over her school-time crush on the elf woman, it still
stung her a bit that her long-time friend had a whole other life that
she had not been a part of.
While she was
vaguely familiar with the fact that Caelyn had become a well known
Silver-Ranked Adventurer, going by the title of the "Scarlet maiden" she
had only heard that there were other Adventurer's in a similar
position, and had not learned or heard anything about them. It seemed
that this wolf beast-woman was the one who had gone by "Golden Radiance"
though for what reason, was at the time unknown by the young Princess.
Letting
out a soft sigh, Caelyn once more shook her head as she frowned. "No,
gold. I told you that you don't need to help with this. We can handle it
on our own." She said, at the moment having an argument with the Wolf beast-woman, who had offered her services in helping with the subjugation.
Despite the offer of another Silver-Ranked Adventurer, Caelyn seemed oddly apprehensive about it. "Awe, come on Scarlet, we both know you'll need my help!" The beast-woman said, giggling as she winked softly at the princess, who only blushed softly, not used to others being flirty with her instead. " 'sides, it's not like I have anything else to do, you know this area is peaceful."
"Again, it's a subjugation of a Void Crystal," Caelyn said, frowning a bit at the beast-woman, her arms crossed over her chest as she did so. "You understand that? We're going to subjugate something made of Abyssal magic. Void. Do you get what I'm saying?"
This had been the third time that Caelyn had put forward these questions, and each time it was spoken up, the beast-woman shuffled where she sat, her fists clenching a bit before she lightly shook her head. "I am fine Scarlet. I can help." The beast-woman said softly, a serious look on her face as she stared at Caelyn. "I will be fine." She then said, causing Caelyn to lightly sigh once more, slowly shaking her own head.
"Alright, if you really think you'll be fine Gold, then I can't stop you." Caelyn finally said, speaking up after a few tense moments of silence, as she seemed to give in to the beast-woman's constant pestering. "I'll say this only once, we leave come next week. This will be with, or without you. Understand?" Caelyn then said, matter-of-factly as she looked at the beast-woman, who then adamantly nodded at this.
At this, the princess slowly moved, beginning to open her mouth, as if to introduce herself as she slightly stood up in her seat. "Ah, I know who you are, little princess." The wolf beast-woman suddenly said, standing up quickly, and was standing before the princess shaking her hand before she could blink. "The name is A'ari. But you can call me Golden Radiance, or Gold for short if you want!" The beast woman said, smirking as she stood there, once more her hands on her hips as she smirked. "And, yes. I know who you are little princess. You're the third princess of this fine kingdom, lady Amalia duGraas, correct?"
This, of course, caused a silent but sheepish nod from the princess, who was still not used to people recognizing her outside of her school, despite being a well-ishly known Adventurer herself for the past couple of years, since she graduated and began her search.
A couple of hours had now passed since the princess had met A'ari, the strange wolf beast-woman, and now she found herself sitting with her all alone at the Guildhall since Caelyn had stepped away to take care of something. As they sat there, waiting for other Adventurers to step forward, hoping some would change their mind about not wanting to participate, A'ari smiled softly, her chin resting on the palms of her hands as she sat watching the princess, her arms propped up on her elbows as she did, a smug smirk on her face.
"D-did you need something, miss?" The princess would finally say, glancing over at A'ari, as she did so, a slight blush on her face as she shuffled nervously, a confused look upon her face as well.
"Oh, it's nothing really." the beast-woman would say after a few moments, smiling smugly still as she spoke, her tail softly swaying behind her as she did so. "It just, I'm surprised that you're just as cute as Scarlet made you sound."
"W-what?"
"I mean, really." The beast-woman then said, waving her hands out a bit erratically, before then open-palmed pushing her arms as if inviting the princess for a hug. "Look at you, you're just so adorable I can't help it." She continued, smirking a bit as she did so. "Scarlet wouldn't shut up about you back when we first met, always going on and on about how cute you were, what with following her around like a love-sick puppy." She then added, almost laughing as she did so.
"I'm... I'm sorry?" The princess then said a bit softly, a frown on her face as sat there listening to the woman. She was quickly realizing why it was that Caelyn wasn't exactly fond of her supposed friend. "I'm... not sure I follow?" She then added while A'ari continued chuckling, slowly stopping.
"Ah, I tease, I tease." A'ari would finally say wiping a tear, off of one of her eyes as she did so, "Honestly though, she really didn't stop talking about you. She treated you like you were her only friend at that place, at least, that's how she made it seem." The beast-woman finally said, sighing a bit softly. "You know, she's a bit of a private person these days. It's hard for anyone to get a hold of her easily, it really does seem to all of us, you included I guess, that she doesn't want to be found." She continued, shrugging a bit as she did so. "I won't peruse as to what had changed, since it's not really my business, but... At the least, don't hold it against her, okay? I'm sure out of everyone, she's missed you the most too."
This, once more made the young princess blush a bit red, as she slowly looked down at her feet as she sat in the chair they had pulled to the side of the stage. "Y-yeah, of course."
