My parents always tried their best to raise me to become the perfect kid. I had to be just right, not too normal or too unique. I knew this would have happened but I still went ahead.
After I came out to my parents, they were furious and almost scared of what their “daughter” turned into. Humans tend to be scared of the “unknown”. I was unknown to my parents.
Peter was asked to get out of our house but he retaliated. My parents didn’t want to get in any trouble with the neighbours and I knew that. So I politely told Peter to leave.
“But-!”
“It’s alright, Pete. I’ll be ok.” I tried to smile to reassure him. I will always be thankful to Peter.
They asked me to stay away from Peter ever since that day. Saying that he will only tarnish any potential I had left inside of me. My parents never hit me but their words and the pressure that they bring keeps pushing me down into an abyss that I can’t seem to get out from.
