TRIGGER WARNING - Character discussing death and committing suicide
Chapter #2
You see, when people say that they are afraid of death, they don’t always mean that they are afraid of dying. What they are really afraid of is the thought of what is after death; they are afraid of the unknown. So they try to implement the idea that the unknown after death is known, that there's something after death, and that they know what it is. When someone, or something, threatens or challenges their ideas, they lash out, not wanting to accept that their false reality is not actually reality.
Alev had never been afraid of death. However, the moment that his body hit the rushing water, he feared, just for a second, about what was on the other side. As water invaded his pale body, all the previous fear left as a sense of peace came over him. Time seemed to slow down as the cold water engulfed his small figure. Mere seconds felt like minutes, minutes felt like hours, and before long, Alev lost track of how long he had been under the surface.
As he fell deeper into the blue abyss and the light at the surface got darker, Alev felt something brush against his arm, and then an arm wrapped around his small figure. Soon he noticed that the light was getting brighter, and in a blind endeavor to block out the brightness, Alev closed his eyes.
