Perhaps it was a habit he could never shake off from his past before he became what he was. He was certain that it had something to do with her but he did not like to dwell in the past.
Kian passed by a room where others of his kind immediately looked to him, silently awaiting his command but he slightly shook his head and continued his way down the hall.
After she died, he had exiled himself from the others and vowed to spend his unnaturally long life alone in self-punishment. Nevertheless, many followed after him, declaring unquestioning loyalty. They realized it was better to follow someone who had supposedly gone 'soft' for a human over he who would not hesitate to kill his own kind if anyone should displease him.
Kian never intended to be a leader of the others but he could wholly understand. He knew they would rather follow a broken leader than a ruthless one.
Before any of them could even blink, the guy was on the ground moaning in pain. He looked up at the dark figure, whose face was half hidden by the shadows.
“Who the hell are you?!” he groaned, standing up. “You’re going to regret that, you mother fucker.”
Kian allowed a small amused smile to grace his lips. There was only a few instances in which he had regret for and ridding the world of ignorant fools like the one kneeling before him was definitely not one of them.
“I am without regret.” He coolly answered.
“Fuck you!" He screamed, quickly getting up to throw a punch.
With a quick jab of his elbow to the back of the head, the man immediately collapsed onto the floor. Kian knelt down by the unconscious man, ready to open the wrist on one of the beefy hands but looked up at the girl instead.
She did not bother to cover her modesty as the girl returned his gaze, her eyes as dark and unreadable as his.
The hallway was deathly quiet save for the thrumming of the music through the walls. Kian stood up and took a step forward, barely making a sound as he approached her.
Something about her too calm presence unnerved him and he came closer to take a better look at her face.
He stopped before her, allowing the bit of lighting from a nearby room to faintly cast a light onto his elegant features.
He carefully watched for her reaction to him but nothing registered in her eyes. His mouth slightly tightened. Kian did not know whether to be amused or concerned about her reaction. His kind acknowledged and respected for him. Humankind recognized his identity on a subconscious level and he often could feel the fear and mistrust creep into them. But this girl merely maintained a level gaze on him as if nothing could possibly affect her.
"Identify yourself." He finally broke the silence. He had superior vision but even now her features were shrouded in darkness to him.
She didn't answer but stepped forward instead. He looked closely at her features and froze as he looked at the girl in complete shock.
