"Hmm... well, I've never really thought about it before, to be honest. I've only ever read books and mangas, but I never tried scribbling up short stories, poems, or whatsoever."
"Ahh, so you're more of a reader than a writer?"
"That... I guess you can say that. But it's not like I don't care about writing at all! Writing does fascinate me, but I just never really thought about actually doing it!" I explain to Ayano. "Though if someone was going to inspire me into writing stories of my own, it would probably be Saki-sensei."
"Saki-sensei... if I remember correctly, most of your favorite stories were written by her, right?"
"Yes! Her works are... they have that unique touch, you know? Her novels have something others don't. The stories she writes are one of a kind, and it's something that would hook in a lot of readers! It's something that readers would absolutely love! Honestly speaking, her works are... phenomenal!" I excitedly let out my opinion about Saki-sensei. "I just... I love her works so much!"
"Ahaha, Yumi-chan, you always get so starry-eyed whenever you talk about this Saki-sensei!" Ayano laughs.
"Ah, well, sorry, it's just..."
"No, no! Don't apologize!" Ayano beams a smile at me. "Whenever you get starry-eyed, your eyes start to sparkle, and you smile a lot! It's kind of like a rare side of you, if you know what I mean. Seeing you happy makes me happy, too! Oh, and I'm not much of a fan when it comes to books, so I don't really know what Saki-sensei's stories are like, but from what I'm hearing from you, I'm sure that she truly is a great author!"
"Yes! She is a great author! An amazing writer! An inspiring person! An incredible role model! The one and only Saki-sensei!" I exclaim with an enthusiastic tone in my voice.
"It's nice to see you get so hyped up, Yumi-chan!"
"Ahaha, well..." I laugh in a shrinking manner. "What about you, Ayano? Which club would you join?"
"Ahhh, me? Hmm..." Ayano thinks out loud. "I'd love to join a Track and Field Club, if there was one! I like running and dashing, like 'whooooosh'!"
"I see. You are a fast runner, after all."
"Really? You think so??"
"Mhm. When we were kids, you'd always chase up to me in ease whenever we play tag."
"Ahahaha! Good ol' memories!" Ayano cracks up. "Ohhh, but that reminds me... what about Yocchan?"
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"Where would Yocchan study? Yasutake is a junior high school, after all. And Yocchan is just a middle schooler, right?"
"Ah, she'll be going to Matsugaya Middle School, a school that's about fifteen minutes away from Yasutake."
"Fifteen minutes... by foot?"
"Yep. And actually, it's nearer than I expected it to be."
"Hmmm... so we'll be picking her up?"
"Most likely, yes. But I'm not sure if our schedules would overlap. If that's the case, then we'll have to fix up a specific time where we'll be picking Miyo up from her school, and we'll have to calculate how long it would take for us to get back home, or how long it would take if we stop by a convenience store or a cafe to eat for a while, and—"
"Hold your horses, Yumi-chan. Let's worry about that once we get there. We still have three days, after all."
"Oh... y-yeah, you're right. Let's not overthink. Not now, at least." I sigh.
Mayumi, don't overthink. Don't overthink. Please don't overthink. You still have three days left before you go to Yasutake High. Just relax. Don't overthink.
...DON'T overthink...
"Aghhh, but I just can't stop thinking about it!" I scratch my head. "I want to go to school already, but at the same time I also don't want to! And not only that, I also can't stop overthinking about it! What the heck!"
"Just relax, Yumi-chan! Inhale, and exhale! In with the cool, out with the hot." Ayano gives me a pat on the back.
Yeah, Mayumi. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale.
...In with the cool, out with the hot...
"Haaaaaa..." I let out a long, deep, and audible suspire.
"I totally forgot that you overthink a lot, Yumi-chan. Sakuragi Mayumi, the mean and sometimes-sarcastic overthinker!"
"Shut up..."
"Oh, you!" Ayano pats my head and ruffles my hair.
"Oi, don't do that." I push her hand off.
"Haha, why not?"
"I'll hit you."
"...Yocchan wouldn't mind if I were to pat her head..."
"Ha?!" I haul up my hand.
"Y-Yeah! Three days!" Ayano shouts with me.
"Yumi-chan... you’re... squeezing... me..."
