The putrid sweet musk crept forth like a cloud, as the sloppy folds of flesh came undone. The wet organs pulsated in wet shine from the moon light. The prior collision of the creature leaving Henryk unconscious, subjected to the tendrils that slithered forth from the folds and gore of the creatures mangled cavity. The gargled hollowed howl bellowed forth from the creatures pain as its exposed nerves and quivering organs felt the sharp cold of the salty ocean air. Pulled in and held close, Henryk would know the warm comfort of the creatures choking pungency as it's decaying smell filled his lungs with every breath. The light of the moon dimming as the layers of scabby rough flesh continued to wrap over him again and again until there was only darkness and stench.
Earth: A post-apocalyptic, ruined world, ridden with demons and other creatures of lore.
Mankind: Barely hangs on, living in small tribes that are protected against the darkness.
Aiden is NOT the most beloved member of one of these tribes. An unrepentant daydreamer, with bigger ideas than just surviving day to day, Aiden spends his days mystified by abandoned libraries, always wondering if there is any truth to the books he reads. Stories of how the Earth was created in 7 days and of World Wars, radiation and famine...
And stories of angels, given souls by God and rebirthed as humans. Soldiers sent to reclaim the Earth for all of mankind, but susceptible to all the trials and tribulations of what it can mean to be human...
