We rolled through the bushes into the forest. It was hectic and hasty that I didn't even know that Xion had picked me and placed me onto his back. We headed straight into the forest not looking back at the busy highway behind us.
I felt my back to see if my tiny plastic bag was there. It was but in a very tarnished shape. Xihop was right this stupid bag really was inconvenient. But I didn't have another one apart from this one. Maybe if I had gone to school, I could have used my school bag. Sigh, this is all just going left. Where are we even going now?
I knew I could trust Xion, but I didn't even know if I could trust myself for trusting him! What if mother came home with safety or even good news?
Whatever. From now on my only worry is how to survive. We carried on further into the forest. The forest was quite a sight. No leaves were on the trees, no scary mammals like the one eyed sprinter or the ice grim. It was really empty and quiet, you couldn't even hear any birds tweeting about or flying over your head. Everything was gone. But why? Was there a UFO from SARC that also took our animals? Or does it have to do with the red sky. I wanted to find, I wanted to stop this mess.
SNAP!
Uhh, what was that? A tree branch? It sounded louder than a tree branch plus it also came from further away.
"Xion? Did you hear that?” I asked worriedly.
"Shh! I think there is something here." he said, dropping me from his back. There were two paths in front of us, one on the left and one on the right. They both looked the same but i'm sure they led to different places.
"This is making me more stressed, right no left… right." He said holding onto my hand. "Let's go right, hold on to my hand tight, we don't know what that sound was so let's try not to trigger it again.”
I grasped onto his hand tight, I wasn't sure where we were heading to but I didn't care anymore. I'll just let Xion lead me on.
We walked on the right path, because the right path should be the right path. Haha, get it… sigh. Anyways, it seemed to be that the sky was getting a dark red, which meant that it was probably also getting later. I could feel Xion's hand getting sweatier. He was obviously very nervous and hot.
"Xion why'd you stop?” I was confused why he suddenly let go of my hand and stopped walking. Did he hear the sound again? What's going on?
"You didn't see that? There was a shadow over there. Are we being followed? By soldiers?” Xion said gritting his teeth. He looked around vigorously, hoping to catch something.
“I don't think I saw anything, are you okay Xion?” Maybe he was seeing things, whatever it was I wanted to move quickly, this place was too eerie to stay in one position.
“Sorry, let’s continue.” He said, shaking his head. We were walking for a few more minutes until we saw a tiny hut. I looked at Xion’s face. His eyes were wide with shock. He twiddled around with his fingers as we walked close to the hut. What made Xion so nervous? Was there something in the hut? Has it got something to do with father?!
“Where are we? Is this where we are staying?” I said hoping to get some answers out of this strange situation.
“I told you we are going somewhere safe.” Xion said with a sad smile. I gritted my teeth in annoyance (something I do a lot when I'm annoyed). "Come on don't do that. I promise everything will be ok. Let's go quick since it is getting more late."
I followed him quietly. I sighed slowly and looked in front of us. We were now standing in front of the door of the hut. The hut had no windows and it looked abandoned. Scary and uninviting. Although it looked very calm and peaceful. Wherever we were, I knew we were in a place nobody would ever come to.
Xion knocked on the door to see if anyone was there. Nobody came. Once more. Nobody came again. Once again. Nobody.
Xion scoffed, “absolute bullshit.”
