I was fuming. That idiot knew that I had claimed the land, and even though the council didn't approve (just 'cause they hate me) doesn't mean he has to be mean about it. I'm his younger sister! He could have at least shown some kindness. I stormed off to where my beta was waiting for me. She was chatting with Kai.
"How'd it go?" he asked.
"Terribly," I grumbled. "Prepare the warriors."
"Are you sure that's the best course of action? We could send another letter to the council instead."
"No! I want those humans!" I said, stomping to make sure my point got across.
"If you're sure…" he said before disappearing into the woods around the clearing. Moments later he came back with the warriors. Actually they were just 5 guys that had very good aim. They also had each had a cooler with them.
"They're ready," Vince said.
"Sarah, wait here. The rest of you let's go!"
And so, we all marched in silence back to my brother's pack. When we got there we just strode right in. I walked through the halls until I reached my brother's room.
"Brother! I have come to declare war!" I shouted, banging on his door. No one answered. Just great. I broke the door down, yet he wasn't inside. The only one there was his pet. I walked to the dining room, hoping to see him there. He wasn't. So I checked any other place I could think of. He was nowhere to be found.
"Brother!" I yelled. "Where are you!"
He didn't answer.
"Split up. We're going to find him," I told the warriors.
Each of them took a different hallway and set off. I was left with both my betas.
"So… what are we doing?" Veronica asked.
"We are going to search the forest."
"But it's huge!" Vince protested.
"Are you defying me?" I asked my friend.
"Yes. How about we just wait in his room or something? He has to come back eventually."
No! I wanna search the forest!" I protested.
"You're going to have to do that alone then. I do not feel like running around a huge forest just to find some guy and throw a few snowballs at him. How about you, Veronica?"
"Doesn't sound too appealing at the moment."
"I hate you guys. But fine. Let's just go back to where his room was."
"Good to see you're able to see the logic in this idea," Vince teased.
"Yeah, yeah, let's just go to his room."
When we got there we found his little human pet sitting on the bed, staring at the wall that wasn't facing the door. He didn't even turn when we came in.
"Hello?" I called to him. He didn't move.
"Do you know where your master is?" Nothing.
"Answer me!" Still, nothing.
"Why won't you answer me!"
"We sure he's even alive?" Veronica asked.
"I saw him earlier today, he was alive then!
"It's been a few hours, he could have died," Vince added.
And then, a boy walked in through the door, followed by a girl. This boy, he looked exactly like my brother's pet. The girl took one look at me and bowed, before scurrying off. The boy looked up at me and just raised his eyebrows.
"Wait, if you're here then who is that?" I asked, pointing to the person sitting on the bed.
"Some pillows?" he answered, confused.
"You're telling me that Sam was yelling at some pillows covered in a blanket?" Vince asked.
"I mean, I wasn't here so I'm not sure, but if she was yelling at the pile of pillows then, yeah."
Both Vince and Veronica burst out laughing.
"Sh-shut up!" I yelled at them. They mostly did, except for a few random giggles.
"Anyway," I said, turning to the boy. "Do you know where your master is?"
"Nope." His demeanor was really starting to get on my nerves. He was not being very respectful at all.
"Y'know what? This was a stupid plan. I'm not putting up with this idiot just to see my brother," I said. As soon as I finished speaking another male walked into the room. My brother.
"Sam? You're here again? Haven't you bothered me enough for one day already?"
"NO! Get your snowballs ready! I declare war!"
"Sis, we're adults. Snowball fights aren't going to solve much."
"Yes, they are! Get your snowballs ready!"
"Fine.
"Tom, come with me. We need to round up the men."
"Do I have to go?" the boy - Tom - said.
"Yes. Hurry."
They left, and so did we. My betas and I spent the next 15 minutes to round up the men for the snowball fight. We had to win. I would not settle for less.
Now, please note that it was Not winter. No snow. This means that when we run out of ammo, we lose. When they run out of ammo, they lose. We already had a disadvantage because we weren't on our territory so we could only bring so many snowballs from the freezers (and yes, I forced my brother to freeze snowballs).
The first snowball was thrown and soon we were in full out war mode. There were people screaming different strategies, people running around, men wounded, and no one actually knew what was happening. It was a blur, but through the whole thing I saw one - no two - people clearly. My brother and his pet. My brother was throwing snowballs with everyone else - for, no matter how he complains, I know he loves snowball fights - while his pet was next to him, skillfully dodging snowballs. He looked very bored.
Finally one of my men ran up to me, yelling, "Alpha! The left side is out of snowballs and the right side has a dozen left at most! We won't be able to do this! We need to retreat!"
"No! We cannot retreat! We can do this! Bring everyone together and have them all throw at the same time!"
"Yes ma'am!" they said, before disappearing.
Before long we were out of snowballs and had to retreat. There was no other option.
My brother walked up to me, "Sis, I know you want the humans but you can't have them. I claimed them first. So, peace?"
I looked at him, annoyed at having lost, but knowing I would have to agree or our mother would find out and ground me. Yes, me! A grown woman, being grounded by my mother! So I agreed and my troops and I went back to our land. But this wasn't over. I would come back. Mark my words.
