At the far edge of the village is an old house that is inhabited by no one. The last owner lived there around two-hundred years ago. Since then, it has been empty. No one goes there, but just stares from a distance. A piece of history, a piece of something important. The last owner, Eric Richmond, a strange fellow is too a part of that history for he is one of the great mysteries of our little village.
Although he was in some way strange, people were used to how and who he was. However, one day he became very distant and quiet. Rumor has it that the villagers believed that something had happened to him; something so terrible that it made him turn into a shell of the man he once was. It is said that he was “changing”.
Mr. Richmond would always be out and about, but as time went on, it was a rarity to see him besides seeing his silhouette through the windows of his home. This soon became a rarity as well. At the same time there has been documentation stating various “unnatural” encounters and sightings of some mysterious monster that was discovered first by a group of children.
A creature about nine feet tall, humanoid with a lack of humanity. The creature’s skin is a deep red with eyes colored darker than charcoal with a thin body and thin limbs. Its voice only screeches and blood-curdling screams.
No one knows where it came from, but it was not long that the villagers began to suspect that Eric Richmond was somehow behind this, especially when the adults began to see it on multiple occasions.
They believed he was using some sort of magic that summoned the creature they saw. Because of this, the village folk took it upon themselves to go to the home of Mr. Richmond and confront him. So they did, only to find the first floor of the home to be empty.
As documented in journals, a few of them went upstairs to see if he was hiding on the second floor. This only led to them discovering the beast’s “nest” and the beast itself.
There are no documents that really detailed what happened after except that everyone made it out of the home safely, and that the home now belongs to that creature. No one knows what happened to Eric Richmond, nor how this creature came to be; but for those who come to visit, even after two-hundred years, do not go to the old house at the far edge of the village.
