There are two types of courage, the bad one, and the good one, both related to mental ability. To put it short, if you don't use your brain, courage is there by default up until it's too late and it's vanished. If you think ''why so'', it's because courage without mind makes one not think of repercussions or actions and thus without enough responsibility, the will to go forward is one that has short legs. It starts nicely, as an attribute, but it's to an extreme where the person with its own hand will inflict great pain to itself.
The good type of courage comes with a mind, but the mind is always curious and always self doubting. If you ever wondered if you have at least the potential to be smart, self doubt comes with it, but is not by any means applying the definition of ''smart'' in any way without the mental work of the person. The good courage comes upon learning yourself. You have to know what you can do, and what you cannot do. You need to think what you already believe in, question yourself to the bone just to be sure of who you really are. The moment you hesitate to answer your own questions about you, the moment fear starts to envelop yourself, you have found the issue. Upon thinking about the issue, you will have the choice of changing or not changing your mind, meaning that you can take up the courage to solve it or leave it be. It is always easy to leave it be, the temptation will always be chosen by weak minds. Take in mind that desire plays a big role into this, regardless of how mentally weak one is, the desire pushes one to want to become better, and while the desire is the click, the needs push you to want that change. It is imperative by nature's rules that anyone trying to find their courage, will inevitable have a true desire of change, for courage to be found again. If it's ''why'' that you're asking now, it's because courage is the acceptance of that which is given before you, the awareness of that which is before you and the understanding of the pain that it causes. All these things together make up the good courage, as when you understand, when you are aware and when you know yourself, you already are conditioned to know that whatever comes your way, you can handle it. That is true courage. The pain which you have inside which you hide tells you something about yourself and the situation always, and it's the main drive of will to forge. The desire of having courage will be too strong and the temptation of being brave will inevitably push you to see for a route to obtain it. Upon true action, where one questioned itself enough and is aware enough of life, then they will get to believe in themselves above all else, and for that to happen, you need responsibility, curiosity, an impartial mindset, a humble attitude and strength to defend yourself. To put it short: maturity. Without these, nobody will ever obtain true courage, just a mere assumption of bravery that is manifested into a sense of pride which pushes one to do reckless things to obtain the acceptance and appreciation of others. Pride feels good, courage doesn't have a feeling, as it is a state of mind.
Now why on earth would you wish for-...nevermind. But since we're building you up from scratch, people's 3rd most popular wish is despair, and I am not talking about curses, I am talking about them wishing to die to solve all the problems. In truth they want the whole situation resolved, dying would just be a condition in case it gets worse, as if it isn't already. There are times when despair takes over and people try to find hope in whatever they can, physical or spiritual. Sometimes some of us lose total control when it's too much and instead of understanding that, we think the person went crazy for no reason, that by simple magical appearance someone lost control because everything was good. In nature nobody loses control unless it's too much bad things, and some have a lower pain tolerance than others, and thus situations where despair is wished exist. People want a way out, an easy one as it's been too much and there's barely enough time to even replenish energy. There's something to learn from despair as well, when everyone turned their backs on you, you turn your back on people, and when it's their time to pay, they do not think it is their fault, and protected they stay for that by others who live to provide for others, having their life on the line but no mind in store to know whether or not the case is to be handled at the location, seek a solution and help the person. After all the badge to serve and protect don't mention to ''serve'' the right to live nor to ''protect'' someone's safety when someone else makes them do such weird things. The job's hard and that makes many just quit anyway because it's too much at stake. Add that, a person losing control and a bunch of idiots sitting in uniforms labeled ''to capture and execute'' and you've got a person that wishes it would die before that day where they would have to ask for help from law units that make people more afraid of them than the villains we are shown on TV that say a forbidden word.
