Not all people are fragrant flowers, but the prickly rose that looked dangerous was the most fragrant.
-NOW-
"Why did you betray your guild?" Morgana kept her nails, ready to defend or attack.
"I can't betray if I never swore loyalty" Mark sat on the sidewalk, looking at her burning hand.
"And why did you try to kill her?"
"She does not belong to this Kingdom. Neither Mirnus nor the other."
"Don't give me this right or wrong chat. You are also an intruder in this Kingdom. Don't forget that Kalius Morgan hid you and helped you, even though you were an invader."
"He is the son of the Demon King, but that says nothing. He is weak, and fails to protect people."
A shout of anger interrupted the conversation. Shizuna appeared, carrying the body of a young man on his shoulders.
"Shimi... Shiro?" Morgana froze, her body shuddered. "M... My brother. What happened to him?"
"The one who appeared when you whistled was a shapeshifter. I mean, I think that was his karma. He didn't actually kill his brother, he just knocked him unconscious" she handed her brother over.
"Do you know what kingdom he is from? Has he seen any symbols?"
"He was from Mirnus. One of the royal guards. Maybe he was after you two."
"Was?"
"Yes. He would continue to follow you, so ... One less problem."
Shizuna looked around.
"Who were you talking to?"
Morgana looked to the side of the store, and in the shadows, she saw Mark make the gesture of silence, asking her not to tell.
"With Mark" she replied, smiling, without hesitation.
"Did he try to kill me?"
"Himself. Damn him, right?"
"I'm not going to give an opinion. But we should run to the Guild, Heath will heal Billy."
"Did my brother tell you his name?"
"Ye..." Shizuna put one hand on her chest and the other on her back.
"C... Come on," she said, holding up a cough.
The two then ran to the bar. Upon entering, Mark was already there with the rest of the members. Kalius stood up, calm and suspicious, looking at Morgana.
The woman handed her brother over to Shizuna to hold, and then she knelt down, begging him to save her brother.
"What do you think I will think of a strong enemy who begs for help?" Kalius lifted her up, smiling.
"I hate you, idiot" she hugged him.
"Welcome back, Morgana."
"Is the traitor welcome?" Mark replied, leaning against the counter.
"It's the dirty one talking about the badly washed" the woman returned.
"I have a lot of questions, but first, Heath, can you heal him, please?" asked Shizuna, arranging him in her arms.
"No problem, take him to the second floor, please" Heath opened the door that led to the stairs.
"You look tired" Kalius took the boy in his arms. "I take him. Try to rest in your room."
"Thank you. Morgana, can you come with me? We need to talk," she said, breathing hard.
"Sure, girl. Come on. Hello, Loomis."
They went up the stairs.
"My friend, Morgana is still wonderful!" Loomis sighed happily.
"Do you think you still have chances?" Leonard laughed as he lowered the chairs from the table.
"Even after she left the Guild, I never gave up on her. I continued to send messages for the owls, and just because she answered me, she still gave me hope."
"She only replied, because she is polite..."
"I bet she likes Kalius too, after all, everyone likes him" said Mark, disgusted, with a frown.
"Really bro? Holy shit! I'm glad I asked for your opinion! Thank you very much!"
"Irony is for the winners, Loomis."
"If you know, then why do you try to be ironic?"
"Listen..." Mark pulled him by the collar, causing him to knock over a chair.
"You little shit, you better let me go... I know your secret, you son of a bitch."
Mark released him. Before he went up the stairs to his room, he kicked a table in the direction of Loomis. He went up and closed the door.
In Shizuna's room, she was lying on the bed while Morgana massaged her back.
"So, do you mean that in 10 days the world will end, Shiro-chan? Like... Just at the turn of the year to 501?"
"Yes... No" she got up, surprised.
"Yes or no, colleague?"
"No. We are not in the year 500... We are in 499. The Kingdom... This world was destroyed in 500."
"And how do you know that?"
"Because I was born on the last day of 499. And the next day, 500, the world ended."
"How can you be born in 500, if you are right here? Now?"
"Because I was born in the original world. The W Kingdom that was originally called Mordrwick. You write with W, but everyone said to ignore W, because it... It was a mistake" Shizuna started pacing the room. "Which means that one of them created this fragmented world... To catch me."
"And why would one of them do that? And who are they?"
"Because I am a daughter born of a betrayal by the Queen of Mordrwick. After the Kingdom was attacked, the King saved me by placing me in a portal.
A divine being found me by chance, and created me. That's why someone is hunting me. Because Death raised me as a daughter for him."
"And why are you telling me all this? Did you know that I can very well tell everyone, right?"
"Because I trust you, and I know you're scared enough to tell. Death cannot hurt you here, this world is not his."
Shizuna, suddenly, felt a strong pain in the back. She seemed to have difficulty breathing, so she lay down on the floor.
"Shiro-chan? What happened?"
"T... This world... It allows me to have powers, just like everyone else. But I didn't... I didn't die. I am not dead like all of you. I am still a miserable human. M... My body will not support the Demon King's soul and mine..."
Shizuna lifted her shirt on the back. On his hip, there was a small black line.
"My body will crack from the inside out ... and it will die little by little until the last day of 499 arrives. On the day I was born, here I will die."
"But if Death raised you as a daughter, he wouldn't let that happen to you, would he? And ... Whoever is trying to catch you, Death will protect you."
"He can't ... I blocked him from contacting me and ran away from home, from his heavenly field. That was when I appeared in Japan and right after that, I appeared in another totally white celestial field. Which means, one of the Seven Deaths wants to get me."
Shizuna covered her mouth with her hands, preventing a cry of pain from coming out.
A bang, like an explosion, came from the bar. Morgana carried Shizuna on her back and they went out into the hall. Kalius was there with Heath too, so they both went down to the bar.
Entering the place, an unpleasant scene was before his eyes. The place was destroyed.
Leonard was at the end of a large iron thorn, across his neck.
Loomis was on the wall, with a larger spike across his chest.
And the culprit of that, his back was to them, holding Katherine's beheaded head.
Without reaction, Kalius froze at that scene. An owl with a message for him came through the window, and soon, a spear killed her.
Morgana took the piece of paper and read it.
"Kalius... It says here, that, your mother... Disappeared from the hospital."
"Ah, so that beautiful woman who was in a vegetative state, and I thought she was a good target, was she your mother?" asked the enemy, throwing Katherine's head out the window. "I couldn't stay in this world without powers until I find..." He turned.
He stares, surprised, at Shizuna, then starts laughing.
"But I think I already found... Avier Isshyo, Shizuna."
"Avier... Isshyo... Torashi" she replied, breathless.
