Jason thought her best friend was cute but he preferred Janie. She did surprise him a lot today. Throughout all his life, he never met a super stubborn woman like her. She made his hormones overact like hurricane winds. Fennell liked looking at Nian but his heart beat faster for Rachel. He realised she got jealous and that made him happy. On the other hand, Yint had a different reaction. He felt a strange connection that drew him to this beautiful woman. He loved her cheerful smile and that made his heart forgot about his first love storing it with images of Nian. Yint could imagine her holding his hand walking in the vineyard collecting grapes while eating. Even teasing each other and kissing like there was no one around to bust them.
'She's beautiful,' Yint muttered subconsciously
Janie, Jason, Rachel and Fennell looked at him shockingly.
'What? She is. There's nothing more to say,' Yint shrugged not wanting to blush. He felt his cheeks getting warmer.
Jason laughed, 'You like her, don't you, Yint?'
'He's blushing so hard. Even his ears are turning tomato red,' Fennell teased.
'Shut it, Nell,' Yint sucked his teeth. 'It's not married at first sight.'
Rachel joked, 'It better be. You've been single for way too long, Inky Yinty.'
'Who knows what can happen when she arrives,' Jason said staring in Janie's direction as he grinned.
Janie frowned at him, 'What are you saying? She won't make a dramatic entrance.'
'As you did, Janie,' Jason laughed. 'I doubt it,' he smirked.
Janie rolled her eyes, 'Shut up, Jason.'
Afterward, they went into the inheritance's talk.
Jason explained, 'Two hundred acres were sold to Yint. He will take care of the vineyard and fruit orchard. It was my grandparents' last wish.'
'Who am I to argue against you from keeping your grandparents' promise,' Janie said.
Jason was surprised by her response. He thought she would have been the selfish type that didn't care, neither had compassion upon others. Unfortunately, her reply was different and her reaction showed a lot of concern and respect for the situation.
He smiled at her as she blushed, 'What? I didn't say anything wrong, Jason.'
'I know Janie, thank you,' Jason smiled watching her flushed cheeks as she got shy looking away from his gaze.
Fennell cleared his throat and said, 'Aren't you going to talk about your idea for the farmhouse?'
'Oh yeah, I wanted to convert our ranch-style mansion into a guesthouse for families and hire help to manage the house and the estate when we leave the property to continue our lives,' Jason suggested.
Janie nodded, 'Okay, I like the sound of that.'
'Since this is our family's home. I wanted you and me to work as partners in the guesthouse business,' Jason mentioned.
Rachel added, 'We don't mind lending a hand too.'
'That's if you consider it,' Yint commented.
Janie smiled, 'I don't mind at all.'
'Great!' Jason smirked. 'We can get down to business. Our real intentions were to find the gold our grandparents hid somewhere beneath the house in a bunker. When we find it I'll split my wealth with my friends and cousin. And you could do the same with your friend.'
Janie thought about it and remembered what Cliff had said about the gold, 'I could upgrade my company, give my staff a raise and probably take another trip around the world with Nian or with the guy I love. Maybe I might just enjoy a solo trip taking pictures, writing a journal of my adventures and publish it, to be on the best sellers’ list. That doesn't sound half bad,' and agreed, 'Okay, on one condition only.'
'And what’s that?' Jason asked.
Janie smirked at Yint, 'Yint dates Nian. If she agrees I get your share of the wealth, Jason.'
'And if she doesn't...we all pair up with the opposite sex and shared rooms living together like a big old happy family,' Jason added.
Fennell grinned, 'I would love to have Rachel with me, what you do say, Rach?'
'Only if her best friend agrees to date Yint, then we could consider it,' Rachel pointed out with a smirk. 'But I doubt it won't happen,' she said.
Yint added, 'And if any couple argues they sleep outside in a tent, it's the penalty for the bet.'
'Nice one, Yint,' Jason smiled and high-fived his best friend. While watching Janie gulped nervously, 'Don't tell me you're scared of the dark, sweetheart?'
Janie thought, 'I can't let him walk all over me and call me scary-cat or chicken again' and then she gathered her courage and smirked, 'Don't judge the book by its cover, Jason. Read the pages and you'll know if I'm scared or not, you little bed bug.'
'Bed bug?' Jason chuckled and saw in her eyes determination and terror as he smirked, 'I wouldn't mind biting you in bed.'
Janie's face turned rosy, 'Why don't you bite your tongue?'
'Unless it's yours then I will,' Jason flirted.
Fennell and Yint laughed, Rachel teased jokingly, 'Now we know who's going to share a room.'
'You bet,' Jason quipped with a smirk.
Janie frowned, 'Not on my watch.'
She stood up from the table walking into the kitchen to grab something to eat. Rachel left the guys and did the same.
'Now, the girls are gone you better win this bet, Yint,' Fennell started.
Jason continued, 'I don't want Janie taking my share of my wealth.'
Yint smirked, 'It will be easy. No woman can't withstand me.'
'Except for Rachel,' Fennell quipped with a laugh.
Yint frowned, 'That's different. She's just a friend. She never took me into courtship because she had eyes for you, you idiot.'
'You're serious? Rachel doesn't like me,' Fennell blushed and they knew he was lying.
Jason frowned, 'Really, Nell?'
'Then why can't you stop talking about her and move on?' Yint asked with a raise of an eyebrow.
Fennell bit his lower lip and slammed his palms on the table, 'Because I can't!' and whispered, 'I love her and I want to marry her.'
Rachel and Janie came out of the kitchen which was separated from the dining room with a wall as she blurted out, 'What happened?'
'Nothing girls, we were just talking about a football game,' Jason lied.
Rachel saw that Fennell was angry and was about to leave, 'Nell, wait!'
'Not now, Rachel,' Fennell answered without looking at her and walked away heading upstairs to his room.
Rachel glared at the guys, 'What did you two do to Nell?'
'Why don't you ask him? He was always the one you fancied the most,' Yint answered harshly and stormed off.
Jason called out, 'Yint!' and faced her, 'You know you should take your time to read between the lines, Rach,' walking off and then they heard the front door slammed shut.
'What was that about?' Janie thought aloud, looking at Rachel who bit her lower lip to prevent herself from crying.
Rachel sighed, 'I'm one who always ends up being alone.'
'You're not alone, I'm here too,' Janie tried to comfort her.
Rachel sighed, 'You don't get it, Janie' and she sat down on a chair gesturing her sit down as well and she did.
'What don't I get?' Janie asked cluelessly. But she knew from Fennell's and Yint's reactions and thought, 'It's definitely a love triangle.'
'Fennell and I like each other, I don't get why he hasn't asked me out yet. On the other hand, Yint likes me too but I'm not in love with him. Because I love Nell since we were little. Jason didn't like when I came around because they always fought each other just to be near me,' Rachel frowned. 'I hope God sends someone for Yint and, Fennell and I can be together forever. Janie, I don't know what to do anymore,' she admitted.
Janie held her hands in hers with a smile, 'For your sake, I'll make my best friend keep Yint busy while you get Fennell for yourself. What do you think about that?'
'I would love that a lot, Janie, thanks,' Rachel smiled. 'But what if she refuses?'
Janie shook her head, 'She won't, I've known Nian for a long time. I know her taste in men. She watches a lot of Asian series, basically Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Pilipino and even Thai dramas. She will fall in love like Humpty Dumpty with Yint but she doesn't crack easily.'
'Then I’ll make Yint jealous. It will force him to make a heavy move on Nian and crack her,' Rachel suggested.
Janie smirked, 'It could work. This will be payback. She always teases me about my crazy relationships. I wonder what will happen when she gets back into the dating zone,' and Rachel laughed at Janie's friendship with her best friend.
'How long have you two known each other?' Rachel asked.
Janie smiled, 'Seven years.'
'That long, huh?' Rachel said surprisingly.
Janie nodded, 'We were attending university and clicked as friends in the fashion department from there we travelled and even dated hot guys. We went to church together on Saturdays. We even won VIP tickets to the most sexiest-Italian-man alive house party which was a charity auction. We've travelled the world, wrote a couple of novels about our worldwide vacation trips. But the craziest trip was when we went to Dubai to bet on the camel race. We won the cash prize, got brand new jeeps and had a blast partying. Until we had to head back home to our normal lives to start our businesses and we've kept in touch ever since. She gives great advice. She helped me a lot with my drama back in London with Keith, my ex.'
'Your friendship sounds amazing. I wished I had best friends like you girls,' Rachel smiled. Her friendship with her friends was always about work and how much money she made, to help them out with their debts. Rachel always had bad luck when it came to picking out the right friends to be her best friends.
Janie started, 'Well starting from today you're joining our clique, Rachel.'
'Awe, thanks, Janie,' Rachel laughed. She realised her luck had just changed because she had gotten a good best friend.
