Ki Mirabelle sat stiffly on the commercial flight back to her native country. For the most part, she wore a dark sunglass to hide her red rimmed eyes which was swollen from grief and tears. Her mind went back to the conversation that she had hours ago with someone that claimed to be from her grandfather.

"Miss Ki, try not to call Ms. Fu.  I'll notify her of your movement...."

"But why? Why can't I call my mom? Mr. Han what are you hiding?!"

Ki Mirabelle abruptly cut short the sentence of her grandfather's aide.

At the background, Han Yi's face hardened at the intrusive tone from the woman he was talking with on the phone.

"Miss Ki, if you value your life and that of your mother! You will hurl your ass down to Chengdu!"

Not catching the blunder that he made on his parting shot, Han Yi’s fist clenched as he fumed with anger at the willfulness he sensed coming from his soon-to-be boss.

The line suddenly went dead causing Ki Mirabelle to gasp in shock.

"He must be high! How dare he talk to me that way?! What the hell is wrong with him?!!"

2 hours prior....

Dumping her clothes into mismatched carry on and a duffel bag. Ki Mirabelle ran like a mad woman through the huge house that was gifted to her on the day she clocked 20 by her mother who was the mistress of Ki Pengfei. 

"Good thing that I wasn't living in a rental apartment! Imagine the stress of calling the leasing office to break my lease then getting charged for breach of contract!"

The twenty something year old paused to look at her reflection in the mirror, as the thought of her estranged father crossed her mind. Despite how distant the two had become due to the unusual relationship both he and her mother shared, Ki Pengfei was never too far away from his daughter's mind.

Pale faced with big black eyes stared back at her, after the crying episode on the phone, Ki Mirabelle's eyes were swollen red, and her unkempt hair was a stark reminder of her state of mind.

Without conscious thought, Ki Mirabelle in dark sweatshirt and jeans, reached to spin her hair into a bun at the center of her head.

"How am I going to face dad and his family?"
