Backgrounds in a city are always tough (does anybody like drawing them??), but these turned out great. I love how each one captures what Bumi's feeling in a different way, the first low-angle shot makes it feel like the environment is crowding in on him, making him feel trapped, and the fact it's impossible for us as the audience to orient where he is from that angle, it also adds to the fact he's feeling lost. Then zooming out and looking on from above adds to our sense of how insignificant he feels, particularly in the last panel with the mean old man shooing him away.
That third panel with him remembering the past as he looks at the cake display is so poignant, you can sense his wistful melancholy, and the face the face are obscured and washed out makes it feel even more distant and separate from what he's feeling now. Love this page, it just captures the emotion so brilliantly.
