"Damn it! Is this what it feels like to be hit by the so-called 'truck-kun'?!"
A terrible accident happened under the midnight sky where the yellow moon shone sinisterly down upon the dying young pedestrian.
The 18-year-old girl exhaled for the 3600th time as she struggled against the excruciating pain of blood loss.
Just one hour ago, a hardware truck crashed into her who happened to be crossing the street with only a secondhand smartphone in hand.
The drunk middle-aged driver came to his senses when he saw blood splattered on the face of the truck's windshield as well as the still moving victim whose limbs where dislocated in the wrong places her body.
Left alone to die of injustice as she watched the culprit run away from the crime scene, the girl began her silent breathing count in order to calm herself before she hearing her last heartbeat.
She succumbed to the sensations of her heart slowly failing, her veins bursting about one by one, her blood gushing fast like running faucet, and her mouth going dry from thirst as it threw out both saliva and gore.
It was odd to witness a girl calmly meditating on the feeling of blood and water flowing out of her body.
It was also odd to see that no one in the city tried to save the girl or call for an ambulance.
All the creatures of the nightlife froze like mannequins and the rain drops halted before touching asphalt like a paused scene from a movie player.
Time seemed to have stopped for her as she continued counting til her demise.
Miraculously, she still survived for an hour since the accident happened and only then did she stopped counting so she could swear in her hazy mind.
"Damn it!", the girl cursed for the second time.
Bits and pieces of memories flashed before the bright light of the truck.
She thought of the times where she was happy and smiling.
But the only periods in her life where the girl could recall being truly happy was in her rented apartment; where her reclining introverted self was seen staring blankly at the ceiling while daydreaming of how awesome and strong she was as a character in one of her favorite novels.
Though orphaned at young age, she was resilient and smart enough to work in her job part-time while attending school after running away from the orphanage where child abuse was a real nightmare.
That twelve-year-old girl worked hard to provide for her own basic needs as well as satisfying her reading hobbies and personal pleasures.
If someone asked what her dreams in life were, she would reply saying 'A stable job that allows me to return home early with only my gadgets and internet connection sparking me to life!'.
It was to spend all her time reading webcomics and web novels which contain plots that substitute for the realities in the world where she existed.
After reading numerous updated web-masterpieces and occasionally watching animations or movies or series, she begins imagining herself as the unnoticed female character who miraculously transforms into a formidable individual living successfully in the novels chapter by chapter.
Unknown to anyone in the city, the currently 18-year-old girl had fulfilled her simple dream.
A secondhand Windows 7 laptop and her other Iphone 5 laid waiting on the wooden study desk as well as earphones and chargers that supplement the reading hobby.
Her savings account is with filled generous amounts of money she got from working full-time in a milk tea shop and odd jobs that she could handle, except sexual activities.
Realizing that she had indeed fulfilled her dream, the dying girl made a wish while gritting her crimson teeth.
"If that little dream was indeed my final purpose of living on Earth, then I wish for a different life in another world. If there is a second chance, I will be as strong as how I imagined myself to be in my favorite novels. In the new life I live in, I will no longer think of cooping myself in the walls of my own house. Instead, I will strive to strengthen my own talents until I have seen myself successfully living my life proactively and happily with no regrets possible."
The discontinued rain began playing its scene and gasps of bystanders have been heard.
After a few minutes of realization and sips of salty rain, she thought of one last wish before she finally closed her eyes.
"In my next life, I wish to be called the name I refer to when I imagine myself as a character in the novels I've read and never the name that the people in the orphanage gave me…
…Name me Alist Glassheart."
