We bought a new phone and clothes for Jay and headed back home. I knew this would be the last time I would be able to waste a lot of money so I just decided to splurge. Back when I was Mina, shopping was my most favorite thing to do, back when I was Mina I actually had money… Apparently I was the most fashionable girl in the company. Which is probably why I’m the chairwoman of Bridgetfort cosmetics NOT Elliot. But when they find out I’m missing, Elliot would probably become the new chairman. I cringed at the thought. That darn little demon, I just can’t wait to catch him and put him into hell (prison).
We entered the house, carrying loads of shopping bags.
“I swear my arms have gotten 10x weaker during the resurrection. I could carry all this with no effort before. Oh how I miss my body.” Jay cried, dropping all the shopping bags.
“I feel like I got 10x stronger,” I grinned, dropping the bags and checking out my muscles. Jay grunted.
“I really want to test this Perseus perfume out and learn more about it but I’d have to kill someone to do that,” I muttered, sitting down on the couch.
“Maybe we can try and go to a cemetery and spray it all over. People would start coming out one by one, like zombies.” Jay laughed and sat next to me
“You watch too many movies. Do you think this would work on already diseased bodies?”
“You never know it might work…” Jay replied.
I rolled my eyes, “How would they even get out? Let’s not cause a zombie apocalypse, shall we.”
“We could actually just kill someone and get away with it. It’s not like they’d find the body.”
“Like how to get away with murder 101.” I giggled.
“Exactly!” Jay laughed.
“I worry about you, Jay,” I joked.
“But haven’t they told you everything about Perseus in that dream or something?” Jay asked.
“Yeah, but I feel like they hadn’t told me everything. I woke up before they could tell me more,” I replied.
“Ahh, I see.”
It was finally the next day. We would be moving into Jaclyn’s house today. I had already packed my bags and was ready to go. I was waiting in the living room for Jay when the doorbell rang. I got up and opened the door, thinking it was Jaclyn. In fact it was my mum. I quickly shut the door before she could walk inside.
“Jay!” I whispered, running inside of Jay’s room. Jay was still packing a few things.
“I’m almost done, wait a minute,” Jay muttered.
“My mum is here.” I said.
“What, for real?” Jay looked at me, surprised.
“You have to be quiet, try and hide if you can!” I demanded and Jay nodded, walking into the closet. He gave me a thumbs up before he shut the closet door. I quickly left Jay’s room and opened the door for mum.
“Hiii, Miss Bridgerfort.” I smiled, trying to act as natural as possible. I probably looked stupid though.
“Why did you just shut the door on me?” My mum asked, confused.
“What? Oh… aha. Uh…” I tried to look for an excuse. “That came off rude, right? Um… the house was a little messy so I wanted to pick a few things up. Haha…”
“You’re not hiding your girlfriend in here, right?” Mum looked at me suspiciously
“What, no of course not! I don’t even have a girlfriend, haha,” I giggled and mum nodded.
“Anywhos, do you know when Mina is coming back?” My mum invited herself in.
“Uh… no… I haven’t had contact with her so…”
“Does that mean she still doesn’t know that Jay is dead? This is unbelievable.”
“It’s unfortunate that she had to go on a vacation at this time.” I sighed.
“She is in Tokyo, right? You didn’t do anything to Mina or something.” Mum glared at me, the look where she knew something was off.
“What, no of course not! I would never do something to Mina!” I said.
“I hope n-”
A loud scream interrupted my mum.
“What was that?” My mum said, looking at Jay’s room.
“What was what? I didn’t hear anything.” I frantically lied. I told Jay to be quiet, agh can’t he do one thing right?! My mum walked towards Jay’s room. I gasped and quickly ran in front of her.
“I’m sorry Miss Bridgerfort but you really can’t come in here.” I said.
“It’s my daughter’s house so why can’t I go where I want?” My mum gritted her teeth.
“Yes, I know that but-” My mum pushed me out of the way and walked into Jay’s room. Jay was standing on top of the vanity, looking at something in the closet. It was a spider. Just a spider. I looked at Jay and gave him a death stare.
“Hello, ma’am.” Jay smiled and looked at me.
“Who are you…?” Mum asked. Jay jumped down from the vanity.
We were all sitting down on the couch. Jay looked at me and mouthed ‘sorry’. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
“So who the heck are you?” My mum asked.
“My name is Kayla, nice to meet you,” Jay giggled.
“Why is she here?” My mum looked at me.
“Uh… actually… ahem. She’s my girlfriend! You see I sort of lied when I said I didn’t have a girlfriend.” I lied.
“Your girlfriend. So why did you hide her?”
“What…? Oh well… I just had a weird feeling in me that you’d be angry if you saw Kayla. Aha.”
“Sure,” My mum muttered. I knew that she was still suspicious of me so I looked as least suspicious as possible.
“Well, I was just wondering if you had found a place to stay. A week has passed by.”
“Uh yeah, actually!”
“That’s great. So you’ll be moving out today?”
“Mhm..”
“Why is that girl not talking.” Mum questioned looking at Jay. I looked at Jay too.
“Me?!” Jay squeaked.
“Well you’re the only girl here apart from me.” Mum answered
“She’s a little quiet,” I chuckled, glaring at Jay.
“Well I wish you success on your move.” Mum smiled and left.
