I usually walk with H. P. Lovecraft whispering in my ears.
This Dracaena draco tree inspired me and also, I wonder how easily we take for granted living with a gigantic living thing (say, a palm tree). But if we had a 30-foot barnacle in our garden, horror would be assured.
This is the complete text:

"The approaching objects were undoubtedly alive. The general appearance - both by size and morphologically - was that of a small palm tree, about three meters high. But its behavior was clearly different from any terrestrial plant.

The central body consisted of a kind of fleshy cylinder the diameter of a human torso, elastic and covered with horizontal wrinkles similar to growth rings. This ratty gray trunk rested on what at first glance looked like a root system, but actually consisted of a muscular expansion of the trunk in the shape of an inverted funnel approximately one meter in diameter. This muscular foot was similar to those of the gastropods, although unlike the common snail it was aided for its momentum by a series of tendinous and skeletal structures that extended radially, intersecting each other.

This kind of endoskeleton (which reminded me of the hands of an extremely old person) had to give the locomotor system of these organisms an unprecedented strength; Although the beings moved at a calm and leisurely pace, it was clear that they were capable of moving at much higher speeds.

The opposite end of the trunk had an expansion of semi-rigid spicules or branches, triangular in section and leaf-shaped, undifferentiated from each other. They did not appear to serve any specific sensory or prehensile function, although the edge featured a row of shiny pinhead terminations that could correspond to eyes. These branches were shaking slightly in a kind of spasms ... "
