Aster

It had been a few days since I last saw or heard from Leaf. I wanted to text xim but couldn’t bring myself to do it just in case that I was annoying them. I really hoped I didn’t mess it up with xim. Charcoal mewed at me to feed her, breaking the vicious cycle that was happening in my head. Charcoal’s food rattled into her bowl as I got a text from my boss saying that they needed me in today. I replied that I would be there soon. I gathered my apron from the dryer and other various work items together before heading out my door. I decided to stop and get food first.

Leaf

I was almost done with my morning shift. I only had one more hour until I was off. I haven't texted Aster in a few days, but I thought it would be weird if I just started texting her again. I didn’t have my thoughts about her completely straightened out yet. I knew I liked her, but I didn’t know if I wanted to try to even see if it was a possibility. I hoped I wouldn’t run into her when I went in after my shift, but I know it’s only some time before I do. 

Nathen snapped me out of my thinking by dropping some frozen product on the table. He apologized while chuckling from how much I jumped. I was able to actually focus on my work from being temporarily scared. I waited for the next customer to come in as I was already done with my other tasks. 

Nathen started explaining another funny video he saw online that you can only explain as chaotic evil. I always liked working with him, because you never know what the topic of conversations would be with him. His talking helped fill up the time. I was thoroughly engulfed in what he was saying at times that I didn’t realize the customers that were coming in. 

I was working through the customers one by one getting through them fairly quickly. I was about to head to the back when another customer came in. I turned to them while putting gloves on. My gloves were giving me trouble so I didn’t look up quite yet, but when I did, it was Aster that I saw. I stopped for a second out of shock, before asking what she wanted. In between the usual questions I had to ask we had a conversation.

“Hey what can I get ya?” “I’ll take a ~~” “NIce, sorry I haven't been texting you lately, what cheese would you like?” “American, no it’s fine I was just wondering if I did anything wrong” “You didn’t, toasted?” “yes please, I would have texted you, but I didn’t want to bother you” “That’s the reason I didn’t text you” “Would it be okay if I texted you tonight?” “Yeah”

We agreed to text each other later, and Aster finished up ordering. I was glad that we talked. It may not have been a lengthy talk, but it served its purpose. I told her also that I would be going into her work a little later after I got off to get something.

Aster

I was shocked to see Leaf. I had thought they worked at the other location of Sandwishful Thinking. I purposely came to the farther one to try and avoid Leaf just for a little longer as I didn’t know what I was going to say to them quite yet. I was glad though that my plan failed. Me and Leaf were now back on speaking terms, but it was still a little weird. Xey did say that they were going to come by Fantasy to get a drink before heading back to xers apartment. 

Leaf~later that night

Me and Aster had been texting non stop again after they got off of work for about two hours now. I was happy, and I knew that no matter what I do or try I was slowly falling more and more for her. She was so sweet and kind. I decided that I was going to bake something for her so my current mission was to see if she liked brownies, because it’s the one dessert that I’m really at making, and I had extra caramel that went on a cookie that we no longer sell at the sandwich shop. I could make caramel brownies, but first I had to nonchalantly ask if she would like them. I had to make sure she wouldn’t suspect me baking them for her, because I wanted it to be a complete surprise so I would wait a few days too just to make sure.

Aster

Leaf was talking a lot about desserts tonight. I don't think xe knew what else to talk about. I waited until xey were done talking about desserts before I asked to hang out again. I wanted to hang out soon as possible. Leaf took a while to check xer schedule before answering that we could hang out tomorrow. 

I needed to sleep so I said goodnight to Leaf. I walked into the kitchen making sure there wasn’t anything Charcoal could get into. She could be real mischievous sometimes. I refilled her water bowl before heading back to my room. Yawning as I slipped on my pajamas, and putting my phone on to charge. I turned off the lights and flopped into bed curling up in the blankets surrounding me. 

Leaf

Aster went to bed leaving me awake with my thoughts swirling. I was going to hang out with her tomorrow! And I figured out that she would like caramel brownies, but I was still going to wait a few days before I did bake her some. My mind was swirling again, but this time it was harder to figure out exactly what emotions were there. I knew I was happy, but there was something else that I didn’t know what it meant.
