In the alternate universe I’d like to have nice art skills
Great enough starting from formative years
And magnificent in my adolescent stages.
In the alternative universe, there was an abundance of love
Giving, receiving, and acknowledging are the most common tribunals
Instead of taking, and stealing, and pillaging.
In the alternate universe, I’d like everyone to be for others
For being with others there is an unkempt desire for being for others
And being for others has its rewards on being with others
In the alternate universe, there is world peace,
No need for wars or imminent man-made destruction
A utopia which doesn’t feel like a dystopia
In the alternate universe, I want a nicer family.
Not one which fights for anything and everything askance
But one which fights for love and freedom’s chance.
In the alternate universe, there is a sustainable environment
In the alternate universe, I want a greener place to live
In the alternate universe, Ms. Thunberg wasn’t crucified for her efforts
In the alternate universe, I hope we are all competent
Trusting enough in our skills and not bragging only for namesakes
Though that’s only in the alternate universe.
In the real universe, nothing like that has happened.
Wars and battles, deaths and casualties happen
The air is brown and the place is black and bleak.
In the real universe, people are only for themselves
Survival is key yet teamwork is merely seen as a weak excuse
For betrayal and bribery askance, even when given a purer chance.
In the real universe, everyone is governed by hatred
Like the household I live in where everyone kills to be dictated
And there was no voice but noise.
In the real universe people are the disease of other people
Greed and hunger run rampant even after Lennon’s dream in song
Oh, how I wish I could be in the alternate universe!
Yet parallel universes are destined to be apart:
For in the alternate universe, I was living my life.
Because in the real universe, I have ceased to live.
