I said again, "What about my rice-cake? And milk?" "I don't know. It depends on the war, sweetheart." Suddenly, there was a crying noise, and mom started to get up, but I got up and said, "It's okay. I'll go." I hurried down the hallway, So-Ra's crying in my ears. I opened her door to findher wiggling in her crib and wailing. I picked her up and rocked her in my arms. "It's okay. Shush, it's okay. I'm here now. Shhh." I murmured those and other sweet nothings as I rocked her. She quieted down, and I made a nickname for her right now. "So-Ra. So-Ra. Ra-ra! Do you like Ra-ra?" She nodded and tried to eat my hair, which I took as a yes. I carefully pulled my hair out of her hand, and cuddled her. "Do you want some milk? Yes? Okay, let's go!" I walked down the hallway with her saying, "Goo-goo! Gaa! Mama! Sisy! Mik!" Mama was her first word. Sisy was her second. Mik or milk, was her 20th. I played with her some more, carefully making sure she didn't eat my hair. I didn't want to be bald by the time I got to the end of my hallway. Mom heard us coming before we even came, so she had a bottle of heated milk ready for Ra-ra. I got the milk and fed her. I asked, "Mom, can I go see Han-Jae?" "Of course!" she said, taking So-Ra from me. "By the way, I nicknamed her Ra-ra." "Ra-ra? That is adorable!" I skipped outside, where Han-Jae usually worked. He claimed he liked the view, and the sound of birds, but I just thought he was a little annoyed about So-Ra crying a bunch. I called, "HANNNNNN-JAEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are you? I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Then I started to choke because of all that yelling. A annoyed voice said, "I'M HERE!" I walked over to him and blurted everything. About the war and my birthday. He replied, "I knew that. And I think your birthday might not happen." "I know that too. A little. Can we go for a walk?" "Sure." He got up, and we walked to the path we always walked. Suddenly, airplanes flew overhead. I asked, "What's happening? Han-Jae? What's happening?" Han-Jae looked super worried and rushed me into the house. "The bombings have started."
