The seemingly old house was just a disguise for what was inside the house. The house was a shop that had alot of relics, weapons and armor, everything necessary for an adventurer. 

"Why do you disguise the house, when the inside is as beautiful and shiny as things get?" I asked the old man.

"I do it to keep the low-ranking adventurers outside, you see low-ranking adventurers pass by this place not knowing that the inside has everything an adventurer needs, while a high-ranked adventurer will feel the items displayed and walk in." The old man replied to my question pretty much instantly.

Walking around the shop was exciting seeing all the different weapons that looked like they were all super expensive. Which raised the question, how were Luna and I going to pay for anything here, we are only kids after all.

"Hey Luna, you have any money?" I whispered to her.

"Not a coin" Luna replied with a tinge of sadness in her voice.

"Also you can take anything here for free" the man cut both of us off.

"Well of course I need both of you in top condition for the tryouts, so money isn´t a problem" The man said as I could see he had something in plan for both of us. After looking around the store for a couple of minutes the old man came from the back with a black robe. I wondered what it was for but then I also noticed a small device in his right hand.

"This is a Freeze Meter" The man said giving it to Luna.

"All snow magic users try to cover as much area in snow as an area of effect attack, but you, you are going to do it differently. First, create a regular snowball using snow magic, see on the Freeze Meter it says 0. Now try to compress the snowball, see now it says -7, the more you compress it the stronger it will be, your task is to get to -60 otherwise you won´t participate in the tryouts. Sounds good?"

"Yeah" Luna replied already getting to work.

"Now for you young man, this is a robe enhanced with darkness magic, darkness magic is the complete opposite of light magic, so usually the stronger magic decides which will win, they don´t counter each other."

"Now your task is to put on this robe, and make it so your magic outshines the darkness of this robe, if you can´t complete this you have no chance of getting to the Main Hall of the Underworld, yet alone withstand the darkness of your Soul Weapon"

"How much darker is my Soul Weapon in comparison to this robe" I asked the old man.

"Hmm, imagine the universe was filled with an infinite amount of Suns, and each of those Suns shone and infinite amount of times brighter and stronger than our Sun, your Soul Weapon would remain dark like it was a casual day in the office." My brain overheated from trying to imagine all of that but I knew it meant I had to work alot. Usually it´s easier to train my magic during the night when the Moon shines the brightest allowing me to make the most conection to the Moonlight mana. I sat and mediatated trying to gather as much mana as I could and releasing it to outshine the dark robe. What felt like minutes were actually hours that passed by and when I gathered my mana I released it all and was stopped by the old man.

"You did it! You actually did it, I´m impressed."

That was not the thing I was happy about, I actually realised something, when I release my magic the mana particles stay in the air, so if I reabsorbed them quickly enough I could potentially have an infinite amonut of mana reserves and could spam my abilities, which seems like an amazing ability considering I use alot of mana when I form spells. The question was how I could do that, I tried releasing some of my mana and quickly reabsorbing it and it was harder than it seemed. But currently I had bigger things to worry about.

"How´s Luna, has she completed her task?"

"Not only did she complete her task, she went over her goal, she got all the way to -74"

"That´s amazing Luna" I yelled happily, she responded with a smug smirk. When it was all set and done, the old man told us to get going, but before that he gave luna the Freeze Meter and told her to work on her Snow Magic, and he gave me a small bag, in which he told I had everything necessary to improve my moonlight magic. We thanked the old man for his generosity, and went to the tryouts. I chatted with Luna for the short distance we had to walk to the tryouts, eventually we got there and a female voice greeted us.

"Please register here if you want to participate" She said, both Luna and I registered and got our numbers, she told us to have a seat in the grandstand of the arena and wait for ur number to be called, at that moment we had to get down in the arena and prepare for combat. As we took a seat I looked around to find anyone that would interest me. Most the guys there were the huge dudes the old man told me not to worry about, some seemed like they didn´t want to be here, but there was one particular individual that looked at me, well both me and Luna in disgust. I wasn´t sure why but I didn´t care. Suddenly a voice was heard all across the huge room

"Welcome participants, we are about to begin, please step in the arena when your numbers are called out"

"Let us begin!"
