"Wake up... It's morning, Lucy..."
Lucy heard a sound whispering in her ear and something soft caressed her left cheek.
"Hmm...?"
"It's morning. Time to wake up."
The soft hoarse voice was like music to Lucy's ears. She opened her eyes a little. The curtains were already opened and the light was bright.
Scarlett's face was close to hers and the maid's hand stroked lovingly against her cheek.
"Good morning." Scarlett smiled.
Lucy felt her cheeks heat up. It was as if a smiling angel was hovering over her with beams of sunlight shining all around the pretty lady.
Scarlett really was the most beautiful woman she ever saw. How could everything be so perfect?
She covered her mouth with the sheets and mumbled back. "Good morning, Scarlett."
Lucy liked to say that name, Scarlett, but what she didn't like, was the idea of her maid smelling her morning breath.
"I can hardly understand you. Don't act so silly." Scarlett pulled the sheets away. "Come out, I have arranged your clothes already."
Lucy looked at the dress hanging on her cabinet door. Scarlett must have hanged it there when she was asleep.
"You were here in this room when I slept?"
"Yes... Oh, sorry, is that not ok for you? Then I will make sure I won't come in without your permission."
"No...It's ok, I guess... You can come in. Actually, my nannies also did."
Yes her nannies did that all the time, and she never cared about it. But Scarlett coming in, while she slept, felt different for some reason. What if she snored? Or talked in her sleep? Wait, what did she dream about? What if she said something embarrassing?
"I promise you didn't do anything weird," Scarlett said as if she could read Lucy's mind. "You just slept, you look cute when you do. You wiggled your nose a few times." The maid winked and turned around, walking to the dress.
When she couldn't see her, Lucy chuckled behind her hand 1 time. Did Scarlett really think she looked cute?
"Do you like the dress I searched out for you?"
"I don't know, I am not a fan of pink, so I never wear that dress. It doesn't match with my carrot hair."
Scarlett shook her head. "What nonsense is that? This shade of pink will look so beautiful on you."
"I also don't like the shape. My body isn't pretty enough to wear that. I am too flat at the top. I am not like Margaret Johnson with her luscious bosom."
"What on earth's name are you talking about? You are such a pretty young lady, you should believe more in yourself. This dress will look beautiful when you wear it, just as any other dress you own. I am so jealous, I never wore a pretty dress like this. Never in my whole life."
Scarlett caressed the fabric of the dress with her fingertips. It felt so smooth to the touch. Lucy watched how her maid worshipped it. Maybe Scarlett thought she was a stuck-up brat. She knew lots of people had it worse than her.
"Do you want to dress it, you may try it on now if you like to."
Scarlett laughed. "Oh, let's not. We must make you ready for breakfast."
"Well, another time then? I really want to see how the dress looks on you."
Lucy bet it will look so gorgeous on someone like Scarlett.
~
Scarlett couldn't persuade Lucy to wear the pink dress. Instead, Lucy wore her favorite green dress. That was a little plainer but she liked plain.
"Papa," the oldest Dearhorn sister asked.
"Yes, Isa."
"Celina asked if we all could join her family for tea sometimes. Oh, can we please?"
"Oh, please, papa!?" Minnie dropped her spoon on the table as soon as she heard the name, Celina.
Celina was Isa's best friend, but also the older sister of the Wilson twins. And while Lucy knew her sister couldn't stand Celina herself, Minnie was all too interested in meeting Jack.
About the same interest as Lucy had for not meeting Roy.
Their father shrugged his shoulders and did not look away from the newspaper he held in his big hands. He wiggled his grey mustache before he said, "ask your mother."
"Mama? Please, can we?
"Yes, can we?" Minnie looked at her mother with the saddest hazel eyes possible.
Lucy already knew what her mother would say.
"Of course, ask Celina when she would have us. We will all go."
Before Minnie and Isa could celebrate their mother added something else, "But...Isa, I want you to meet Sir Bronson. You are refusing the man before you even meet him.
"Oh, but, mama--" Isa whined.
"Otherwise we will not go. You are twenty-five years old, Isa. It's time to get a man. Your sisters need to be wed too, one of these days and they can't because you refuse every good man that asks for your hand. If you don't pick one soon, I will."
Isa sighed. "Ok, I will meet Bronson."
Lucy rolled her eyes. This was about the same conversation as every week during breakfast. She wondered if her mother would live up to her words one day and really marry off her sister.
~
The rest of the day went smoothly. Lucy's private teacher came, Mister Archibald. He was an ok man.
Because Lucy, a young unwed woman, couldn't walk around with a man alone, her nannies normally chaperoned her. So now Scarlett was the one to accompany Lucy all day. And Lucy didn't mind that one bit.
When Archibald taught Lucy his lessons, Scarlett kept her distance, walking a few meters behind their backs.
They had a little walk in nature today and Lucy sketched flowers, while Archibald told her all sorts of information about them. Which ones were poisonous, which had healing powers, and more.
The young redhead couldn't help to notice how her old teacher was staring at her maid a large portion of the day.
~
"Did you see Mr. Archibald lusting at you? Did you know that he's old and married?!"
"No, I didn't see, I wasn't paying attention to him."
Lucy looked at Scarlett's reflection in the mirror. She loved it when people combed her hair and Scarlett did it with such gentleness.
"Where did your attention go then?"
"To you..."
"Me?"
"Hmm-hmm..."
"Oh."
"Shall I braid your hair? Then tomorrow it will be beautifully curled, I have a special technique."
Lucy nodded. "Ok."
"You draw beautiful," Scarlett said while she used a long fingernail to divide Lucy's hair.
"Thanks. It's kind of my passion." Lucy liked drawing. And she knew she was good at it too.
Too bad that women could not become painters. She would really like to paint and have her work in galleries as well. Why can't women? Again such a stupid rule. If she can't do anything with her life, why should she learn anyway?
"Well, it shows."
"And you?" Lucy wanted to know more about her new friend. "What do you think you can do well?"
"Oh, that's a hard question. Well, I like to take care of people, so this job makes me happy. And I like animals too. I was born and raised on a farm before I started working."
"Really? That must be so much nicer than this boring life."
"Haha, it was never boring."
Scarlett shared some more about her life. About the families, in different cities she had worked for. She said that Lucy was her favorite milady till now and that made the young woman happy.
"There. All done."
Lucy inspected her hair. It was braided and worn on top of her head. She looked kind of ridiculous.
Scarlett giggled, "It's not so pretty now, but tomorrow when you visit the Wilson's, everyone will be jealous of your hair."
Oh yes, the Wilsons, they will visit them tomorrow. Lucy was not looking forward to that.
"Well thank you, Scarlett, for your effort."
"No problem. I shall leave, it's time to sleep."
Lucy stood up and suddenly thought about the pink dress.
"Wait, Scarlett, you must wear the pink dress. You can do it now."
"I better not, I am sure your parents don't agree with a poor maid walking around in their daughter's expensive clothing."
Lucy pouted, "Oh, please. I really want to see it. Please. I won't tell. Do it for me?"
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "Ok, but you have to help me as I help you. I can't do it myself.
"Sure."
Scarlett turned her back to Lucy.
"..."
She turned her head a little. "You must open my dress..."
"Oh. Oh, yes, of course, silly me, haha."
Lucy started to unlace the cords of Scarlett's black servant's dress. The little heart-shaped mole in her neck caught Lucy's attention again. While she pulled the cords looser and looser, she looked at Scarlett's neck a little more observing.
I was long and slender. It looked so soft.
"That's enough," Scarlett said and she wiggled her body until the dress fell on the ground. Lucy swallowed at the sight of the women in her undergarment.
"Will you get it for me, you want me to wear it, I don't want to get it myself," Scarlett whispered.
Lucy practically ran to her closet, opened the heavily decorated door, and yanked out the pink lace dress, she knew Scarlett found so beautiful.
When she turned around she stood eye to eye with the other woman's front.
Scarlett certainly wasn't flat at the top like Lucy was...
Her busty chest was rising and falling with every breath she took, almost making the round soft breasts popping out of the tight corset.
Lucy was almost mesmerized by the half-naked body before her.
"Thank you," Scarlett said as she took the dress out of Lucy's hands and stepped in. "Can you close it up for me?"
"O-ok..."
She didn't know why she trembled so much. Maybe because this was the first time she saw someone else so uncovered.
"I don't think it'll close. Don't tear it!" Scarlett laughed. "You are slimmer than I am."
Lucy accidentally brushed her hands against Scarlett's back. It felt warm and smooth.
"Yes, I'll stop when I feel resistance."
Would Scarlett notice it if she touched her again? She might think it was accidentally, like before. Lucy wondered what the hell she was thinking. She shook her head and went on with lacing the dress.
"I think this is all I can do, I can't close it more than this."
Scarlett turned around.
Lucy watched in awe. "You look so beautiful." So much better than she would look, it was as if the dress was made for her maid.
~
At night, long after Scarlett had taken the dress off and was gone, Lucy still laid awake.
The image of a beautiful woman didn't let her sleep...
