Episode 2: “on my own”

...my mom stops the car and she steps out “oh my god.....we need to get out of here!” she says as jumps back into the car and locks all the doors. “mom? what is out there-” my sentence is interrupted by a loud bang as a pale man comes out of nowhere and runs at our window shield, but his eyes weren't normal they were a milky white, with blood dripping down the corner of his mouth......“drive,drive,drive!!” I say with a shout as I see more of them starting to stumble and slowly run towards our car. She puts her keys in ignition, starts the car, makes a u-turn, and we speed down the highway. “What in the world was that!?” exclaims my mom “i- i don't know, but. There was something wrong with that man and all those other people. mom, i... don't think they even were alive” i say with a shaky tone, she straightens her posture and keeps her eyes on the road ahead  “you can't be serious emily… if they weren't alive why would that one guy come and bang on our window? and besides they were probably actors for that new game thats coming out or something”  i look at her and then out my window “mom, that man didn't look like any actor to me. he was actually bleeding and his eyes looked like they had not blinked in a century and they were white for crying out loud!”I look to the road and I see one of those things come out of nowhere and in a split second, we swerve off the road and things go dark, by the time i open my eyes the lighting in the car tells me that it's going to be night in a few hours “mom…?” i look up  and she is slumped over in her seat, the reality  of what just happened suddenly slaps me in the face “mom are you ok?? mom!” I shake her but she stays silent and limp. tears gathered at the corners of my eyes, i looked out the window and we appeared to have rolled off of the freeway and into the small bit of forest below. I look back at her and wipe my face on my sleeve and open the car door, I look around and let out a sigh “I guess I'm on my own, for now” . I knew I was burning daylight just standing around so I started to hurry through the trees, I started my journey.
