For me, my favorite way of lifting someone up is (obviously) drawing happy pictures. My second favorite way to lift someone up is by making silly sounds and faces. Being silly is always a great to help people smile.
When my friends are sad I'll just kinda quietly, while hearing them out, find some sort of chocolate or sweet. Then I'll give them it (throw it at their lap if it's a small chocolate and they're sitting down which is usual, and I'll say "sugar releases endorphins". I forget when and why I started this but I think it's at a summer camp where I first felt most at home. As a gay dude growing up in a yucky part of a yucky state, that place just felt so comfy. And I would do this to help my friends there after my mom sent me a large bag of chocolates. We went through the whole thing :p
