The Deal
A man stood in a dark alley holding his newborn children. He wore large robes but expensive clothes, and boots causing his identity to be hidden. He was shielded from the citizens of this town only by cloth and darkness. The night was quiet, the only sound that was heard was the soft drip from rusty pipes lining the homes, until a gruff voice spoke, startling the man.
“Do you have them?”
“Yes,”
They stood in silence for an awkward moment.
“I’m impressed at how fast you arrived Dagore.”
“Yes, yes, can we proceed now?”
“Take them away from me do whatever ya want, sell them as slaves for all I care,”
Dagore just stood impassively, unimpressed by Markis’s behavior he sighs.
“Ok Markis say I do take ’em sell ‘em to the traders, I still need names don’ I?” his voice seemed to drop an octave as he glared at the inn keep.
“I suppose you do...the girl is Radia and the boy well he can be whatever you choose. Just take him away from me, kill him, sell him, keep him for yourself Whatever the Hell you want Dagore.”
“I'll ask you again, what is His name?”
Dagore asked again, his foot tapping against the hard pavement.
“Salem.”
Markus said with a spiteful tone. Handing his children to the other man. But he was cut off from fleeing when Dagore asked him a simple question that froze the inn keep in his spot.
“Before ya go, Markis, why do ya hate the Lil lad so much?”
“That thing is not my son.”
He said with his head down, He turned and with a flick of his robe, he was gone leaving his children with the stranger. Dagore looked down at the small life forms noticing how different they were. the girl with sleepy hazel eyes and blond hair. While the boy had gray eyes and his hair was pitch black.
“what am I supposed to do with the two of you… the girl could have a real shot with a noble being a servant for the wealthy, but the boy could be a problem if I give him away,”
“I can’t keep them together. It would be too noticeable” he said with a serious expression
“what am I going to do.”
