Holding my hands palms facing forward, I activated static shield. I kept it small, having it revolve inside my palms like a small purple ball. Koran's eyes looked as if they were going to pop when he saw the violet sphere of electricity come to life between my palms.
"Hmm.. Purple lightning? Strange..." Koran started fumbling through the bag he had slung over his shoulder. After a good minute, he pulled out an old scroll. It looked old, really old. As if it would crumble to dust from the wind alone.
After opening the scroll, he began letting out a series of sighs and grunts while he read it. " I see, it is as I thought." He looked at me with an intense stare as I sat in my mother's arms. "Ma'am, it would seem that your son carries within him the bloodline of a dragon. Now, that wouldn't mean much if the father was a dwarf, because the boy wouldn't be able to use magic. But it seems that the bloodline within him is active, which means he could one day stand above all magicians on Grlla(Gr - ee - uh). He may even be able to take on a dragon form if... he survives."
My mother's eyes turned sharp. "If he survives? What do you mean by that?" Her tone was cold, devoid of respect.
"I've heard word that there are rogue magicians of all sorts gathering to hunt the dragons to extinction. They don't want to be ruled over by reptiles who haven't done anything in hundreds of years. They are gathering numbers, training those who wish to join them. Seems that they have an artifact that can lead them to dragons, which can be bad if your boy here fully embraces his dragon bloodline." Koran's voice was soft and understanding, seems he knows not to piss off a protective mother.
"It's okay mom, i'll train with uncle Koran and become strong enough to fight off the bad magicians. I just need practice." I tried reasuring my mother as best I could. It would be great for me to train with an actual magician, I need to learn how to build up my mana while also gaining more abilities.
"Very well... what needs to be done before you can start training him?" Her voice was firm, she'd made up her mind.
"Not much really, I just need you to teach him to read."
Embark on a Journey with a young man who's never felt power of his own. Join Drol as he strives to find the last of the dragon race, uncover hidden secrets, and build his strength to the top.
