It's been four days since the princess came across the library and all this time she was gathering information as well as training her body to not fall asleep. She figured that it'll be for the better if she was not caught in the library, otherwise people would then question her ability to read well-detailed books when her maid and nanny Jennett is teaching her how to understand simple picture books. Through the four days of exploring and gathering intel, the princess figured out the perfect plan to be able to sneak into the library, unnoticed and unsupervised.
A maid, either Jennett, Rose, or Phiona is always by her side, ever since Sir Ginger got into a heated argument over the princess's safety with the new maid, Phiona. Now although Lia was very grateful to see an adult with common sense saying that a child shouldn't be left unattended, however, she wasn't a normal child. She had a mind of a thirty-two-year-old woman and her past life's memories were still very fresh. Therefore, it wasn't that great that maids followed her everywhere she went. But it was perfect knowing that as soon as the princess 'falls asleep' during her afternoon nap, she has three hours to herself before someone comes to wake her up.
It felt like luck was shining down on her since she had a working clock that hung in her bedroom, however once outside her room, she'd have no way of telling what the time was unless for some miracle the library had a clock.
During two out of the four days, she managed to convince the maid to take her on a walk right before her nap time so she could make sure she knew the directions to the library but on the way there, she also happened to bump into her older brother, Lucas. It was good that she did and was grateful for once that her maid, Phiona, was quite a gossiper. Princess Lia was able to gather some useful information on her brother and the library. She found out that Prince Lucas has afternoon classes at the same time she has her afternoon nap, and it was even better that they weren't held in the library. These classes were also taken every day. If it wasn't luck, then she didn't know what was.
The library also happened to be the prince's personal study room which he spent much of his time occupied learning and reading. This wasn't so much of good news knowing that if she was ever caught by her dear brother then there'll be hell to pay. Then, of course, it was also known to be lunchtime at three. So it gave Lia three safe hours without any disturbance.
In other words, the princess had three hours to spare in the library, that is if she can figure out to fight her drowsiness, and that's exactly what she did the other two days. She noticed that if she didn't walk a lot or mostly stay in her room then she'd be less tired. But that was also not good for her child-like body so she decided to invest some of her time to go on walks before her bedtime in the evening, that way she'd be getting exercise and will be sleeping well during the night. She knew that the more her body became used to staying awake during the day, then the less sleepy she would feel. It was just a matter of time.
Now, of course, there were other elements that came into play with her perfect plan and that being Sir Ginger and his patrol time. That was very irregular and she'd have to watch out for it right on the way to the library. But there was also the question of whether there could be any patrol's on the way back which she had to take under consideration. And the fact that she could bump into any maids any second once she's outside of her room.
The princess thought of almost any possible outcomes and obstacles but the more she thought of it, the more anxious she became. She was always one to listen to the rules, and now she was going to break them.
"Here princess, let me help you with that," Her maid, Rose, said as she unzipped the princess's day dress to change her into her sleepwear. Lia didn't like always changing into different clothes if she barely left her room but it wasn't like she could straight up complain and request to always have her nightgown on. But that wasn't ladylike, the maids told her one morning when she hinted it out.
Rose helped her into her plain white nightgown that reached just below her knees. The princess hurried towards her bed, nervous at what was going to happen after the maid takes her leave. She smiled at Rose before jumping into the bed and allowing the maid to tuck her in.
"Oh princess, you are becoming more and more beautiful with each passing day!" She said and smiled.
"Thank you," Lia replied and smiled. She began to notice that Rose was becoming less quiet and distant due to the cuteness the princess was showing, Lia observed. However, her other new maid, Phiona, wasn't fooled by her at all. Lia also wondered why she needed so many maids to help her, couldn't she just have Jennett, her favorite person in this world.
"Have a good nap, my lady," The maid said, shutting the curtains from the bright light of afternoon's sun.
Once the maid left, the princess waited for a minute while trying to calm her nerves. She knew that stressing about it wouldn't be good for her small body so she took one deep breath before jumping from the bed. She used a couple of the countless red and golden pillows that she had and stuffed them under the blanket to make it look like someone was sleeping under, in case a maid was going to come back. She turned to the closet and opened the door, looking for the pink dress she came across yesterday. It was very simple to put on and didn't require zipping up in the back or on the side. She threw her nightgown inside, took out her small slippers, and closed the closet door behind her. Lia only wished she had a hat to cover her bright golden curls.
She hurried towards the door with a bit of fear and excitement. She carefully and slowly opened the door, sticking her little head out, looking down the hallway. She bit her lip, thinking if this really was a good idea. Before she could convince herself and chicken out of it, she was already walking down the hallway with only one thought in mind.
I hope I don't get caught.

Thankfully, she arrived at the library with not one soul spotting her. She grabbed the door handle, twisted it, and pushed it open without thinking twice. The familiar scent of books hit her nose, which bubbled up her excitement even more. When she walked in, she was taken aback once again by the many books that surrounded her. The library wasn't just wide in width, but in height too. There were staircases leading up to the library's second floor. The walls were all neatly stacked with books, all different shapes, colors, and sizes. Lia felt lost in her favorite world, the world of imagination and literature. She took a look around excitedly before proceeding to the nearest bookshelf.
For the first time since she got here, she felt jealous. Jealous because her brothers weren't ignored by their father. A father gave his son a whole library with countless books for his birthday, at least that was the gossip going around, whereas in her old life she never received a present, not even a simple 'happy birthday'. She pushed her thoughts aside not wanting to ruin her mood, she didn't want to think about the past or the future, she wanted to enjoy her present.
Before she got distracted by the books, she began to look for a clock while she silently prayed that there would be one. She found a long wooden table with a couple of chairs tightly tucked under, she also found a perfect spot in the back of the library where she could read and no one would see her, and to her luck, she found a big antique clock which she spotted when she was looking at her new reading spot. The antique clock was big, and you could hear every 'tick' and 'tock' clearly, even if it was a bit farther away.
She then began in search for the first book in her mental list, a history book. She guaranteed that they had to have at least one and it took her thirty full minutes to find it. Although the library was neatly organized, she did notice that all of the writer's names were unfamiliar to her. For someone who had their own little collection of antique and first edition books, she was slightly disappointed at herself that she wasn't able to recognize any of the writers. She did find a book about magic history which she was eager to read but she knew that she'd have to read the history of the world she was in first but she still grabbed the book out of its shelf and almost squealed. The book was very heavy, or so she thought, she didn't know if it was because of her weak arms or did the book match the weight of a rock.
She quickly hurried to her spot, at the back of the library and sat the book down. She proceeded to look for a history book until she came across one. As she was about to grab it, another book caught her eye. Instead of having a brown or black cover like the most, this book was silver. She looked up at it and reached out to take it but her short arms couldn't even touch the shelf on which the book was placed on. She sighed and cursed her shortness before grabbing the history book. This book too was very heavy and she hurried through the library to place it down at her spot. She sat down on the floor which was all covered in a soft brown carpet and began reading.

Lia scanned the pages at a rather fast pace for she didn't have all day to spend in the library, she had to leave a bit early so she can place the books back and change into her nightgown but she did manage to gather some important information. If she read this book in her past life, back in her world, her old self would consider it as mere fantasy fiction. But she was in a totally different world, with a totally different culture, and for the first time ever since she woke up, it really scared her.
This world, in which magic was real, had four different countries or rather Empires. They were ruled by four Emperors, each had their own land. The one in which she was living in, it was called Avrigastan and her father wasn't just a King, he was an Emperor. These emperors ruled over Kings, Avrigastan was made out of eight different kingdoms, one bigger than the next. Due to a lot of land and resources, this placed Avrigastan the second major Empire in this world. And from what the princess gathered, this world was definitely not Earth.
Could it be a parallel dimension? Can there be others like me here?
So many questions were running through her head that she was surprised that she wasn't getting a headache out of it. She scanned the map quickly, names of kingdoms, mountains, and lakes that she didn't recognize. She decided that she will read into Avrigastan's history later, after all, she was dying to know everything there is about magic. She could only pray that this book had the answer to one of her main questions.
If her brother had magic, did that mean she has it too?
