The following morning came as Caden put his head into Dean's shoulder. He took a deep breath in before his nose wrinkled up. Sleep instantly left him as he picked his body up.
He shook Dean awake. The said man only groaned as he put his arm over his eyes. "Five more minutes," Dean muttered.
Caden slapped his arm instead, "No. You stink, and I most likely stink too. So, go take a shower."
Dean let out a louder groan this time as he put his arm down. He slowly opened his eyes, adjusting to the sunlight hitting the room. Turning towards Caden, he had a frown on his face, "Did you really wake me to tell me to take a shower?"
"Yes. Now, go do it." Caden untangled his body from Dean's as he got out of the bed.
Seeing Caden leaving the bed, Dean quickly sat up, letting sleep leave him as he asked, "Where are you going?"
"To shower in my room and start breakfast right after."
Dean reached out, grabbing his hand as he asked, "Take a shower with me, please?"
Caden raised his eyebrow as he joked, "It only took one date for you to invite me to the shower already?"
"We don't have to do anything. I want you to take a shower with me."
"I think you are trying to see me wet and naked."
"Caden!" Dean begged, trying to put on puppy dog eyes.
Caden stared at Dean for a minute. The man looked like he was going to beg again but stopped when Caden pulled his hand away.
Walking to Dean's bathroom, he stopped at the door and looked over at the man still in bed. "Are you going to sit there all day or join me? I still have breakfast to cook."
Dean quickly got up as he ran to the bathroom. Caden laughed as he moved out the way, letting Dean enter first. After Dean did, Caden closed the door behind him.
When they finished washing up, Caden had to make his way to his room with a towel wrapped around his waist. Once he entered his room, he changed into some new clothes before walking back out to start breakfast.
As he entered the kitchen, Dean was already in the living room, glancing at Caden when the man walked by. A smile laid permanent on his face as he thought back to being in the shower with Caden.
They did not do anything except help each other with washing. There was sexual tension, but the sweet intimacy in the act made Caden and Dean not take it far.
Even with that, Dean is satisfied that he got to see Caden naked. They lived together for almost four years and only ever saw each other in underwear.
So, seeing the man he fell for naked is the best thing ever.
Dean blushed a little at the picture he remembered before shaking it away. He grabbed the remote, turning on the TV when there was a knock at the door.
"Dean, can you go get that?" Caden yelled from the kitchen.
Dean stood up from the couch, making his way to the front door as he opened it. On the other side of the door was Lia. "Hey sweetie, Wayne's birthday is in two days, and we need to fix up a party for him."
"Shouldn't Zie be here for that too?"
Lia shook her hand, "He should. But until he learns how to appreciate his boyfriend more, we will plan the birthday instead. Plus, we are enough."
Dean rolled his eyes at that before moving out the way to let her in. Once Lia walked in, Dean closed the door behind her. They walked into the living room, sitting down on the couch.
Caden walked out of the kitchen with an apron on as he wiped his hands with a towel. "Hey, Lia. Do I need to make you some breakfast too?"
Lia smiled at Caden as she waved, "Well, beautiful, it is your lucky day. I already ate."
Caden nodded before walking back into the kitchen to finish his and Dean's food.
Lia looked at Dean before commenting, "He is such a sweet wife."
Dean choked on his spit at Lia's words as his eyes widened. It was almost like she found out that Caden was playing as his wife. "Do not say that, Lia. What if Caden heard you?"
Shaking her hand, she pulled out a notepad as she did not mind what she said, "I have no fear."
"I can tell." Dean sighed.
Lia clicked her pen before saying, "Okay, we need to make a list so that we can get the things by tomorrow. Also, this is going to be at my house. So, what should we get?"
Dean thought for a while before saying, "Balloons, a big birthday sign, alcohol, maybe some table games, movies, more alcohol, and some food."
Lia wrote down what Dean told her. Dean leaned over and saw that she underlined alcohol multiple times.
Bringing the pen to her chin, Lia tapped it a few times, "What kind of movies should we watch? And should we get snack type of food or regular food? Also, is there a way we can get some alcohol for free? I do not feel like buying some."
As Dean was getting ready to respond, Caden walked into the living room with two plates and utensils.
He set one plate in front of Dean while he sat down next to the man. "I know someone who can get you some alcohol for free. How many bottles do you want?"
"Three."
"Seven."
Lia and Dean simultaneously answered at the same time. Lia was the one who gave a low number, while Dean gave a higher one.
Dean does not drink that much, but Wayne's birthdays always end with fights between Lia and Zie. So, Wayne needed the drinks more than everyone else.
Caden gave them an amused expression as he thought about texting his sister, later on, to ask for seven bottles of alcohol.
"I got it." He answered. He started eating his food as he let Dean and Lia go back to their planning.
"Okay, so, we have the alcohol; what about the other stuff?" Lia spoke.
"We should watch horror movies; I think that would be fun. And how about regular food? Maybe some sandwiches, pizza, deviled eggs, wings, and a fruit salad."
"Okay. Now, we need the cake. Wayne is not a cake fan, so what should we do. Should it be like the other years and do a cupcake again?" Lia asked as she wrote down the other stuff.
"No. That is starting to get boring. We should do something else." Dean responded as he furrowed his brows because he could not think of what else they could do.
He took a few bites from his food, thinking that it might help him come up with something.
Caden decided to pitch in again, "How about I make a black forest cake with alcohol? I know Wayne is not a fan of cake, but he likes alcohol, so that should be fine, right?"
Lia jumped up with a smile as she quickly wrote that down on her notepad, "That is amazing. Please, do that."
Dean looked at Caden, "That sounds delicious. Can I also have that cake for when my birthday comes?"
"I have something way better planned for you on your birthday," Caden whispered as he winked at Dean.
Dean licked his lips as he felt his face getting hot with the things his mind started to picture. "Oh, what if I say my birthday is today?"
Caden's finger softly went down Dean's cheek before stopping on his lips, "Then you will get nothing for being a liar."
"Can you two flirt some other time? I still need to think of things for Wayne's birthday." Lia interrupted.
Dean cleared his throat while Caden went back to his food. They forgot that Lia was still there.
"I think we got everything," Dean spoke.
"No, not everything. How should we do the decorations? What kind of balloons should we get?"
"I think you should think of those. You know me, and decorations don't go well."
Lia stopped tapping her pen as she nodded her head, "You're right. I will work on the decorations. Can you get the food then?"
"Yeah, I got it."
Lia snapped her notepad close as she stood up, "Okay, we are finished. Now, I am going to go so you two can flirt without me here."
Dean rolled his eyes as he also stood up, walking Lia to the door, "You know you could have called."
"I know, but it's better bothering you by coming to see you face to face."
"You are impossible, Lia."
Lia smiled at him as she softly tapped his cheek, "No, I am amazing."
He opened the door, letting Lia walk out the door. But instead of leaving, she stopped and stared at Dean with solemn eyes, "Are you and Caden together?"
Dean bites his bottom lip as he looks down. He was going to answer with the truth when Lia spoke again. "Wait, don't tell me yet. I need to build up a speech on how he better not hurt you or else. Tell me in a few days when I am ready."
Laughing, Dean shook his head at Lia, "You are so silly at times."
"But you love it. And I am serious, Dean. Caden, better not hurt you, or I will be on the warpath. I do not care how freakishly strong that man is."
Dean smiled at her as he leaned forward and kissed her forehead, "Okay, I will make sure he doesn't hurt me, and if he does, I will tell you."
"You better," Lia turned around, walking off as she raised her hand behind her, "see you tomorrow."
Dean hummed in response as he closed the door, walking back into the living room.
He sat down on the couch, putting his plate of food in his lap so that he could finish it. It was silent for a few minutes as Dean and Caden watched a comedy show playing at the moment.
Caden set down his empty plate as he finally spoke, "You know, I will never intentionally hurt you." (He heard Dean and Lia's conversation at the door.)
Caden said 'intentionally' because someone could still hurt another accidentally even without knowing that they are.
"I know," Dean answered in a low tone before continuing, "and vice versa. I will never intentionally hurt you."
"I know," Caden responded before resting his head on Dean's shoulder.
They spent the rest of the morning watching TV.
