The night had settled and aged as snoozing breaths left exhausted lips. Eleanor’s arms were wrapped around a pillow while she slept more soundly than the dead, and Tianna pulled a blanket over Eleanor to keep her bare form warm before fetching her own clothes. Piece by piece Tianna dressed herself, and once she was finished she looked to Eleanor with a fond smile playing on her lips.
“Sleep well sweetheart,” Tianna quietly hummed with a gentle pat to Eleanor’s head, making her stir slightly, but Eleanor simply nuzzled further into her pillow.
Tianna huffed in amusement, pulling the blanket over Eleanor’s head as well, and she took her leave, quietly closing the door behind herself. After a moment the covers shifted slightly.
“She really is a good girl.”
Eleanor pulled the covers off her head to stare vacantly at the ceiling.
“Scratches… So many of them… No matter how many times I tell them… they all sit on the damn bar.”
A more quiet thought Eleanor didn’t care to listen to while she closed her eyes, and she laid her arm over them as she strained her exhausted focus.
“I wonder if Kali is still up… Ellie knocked out so fast… Guess she was tired.”
There was no concern or guilt to ebb at Eleanor’s mind from Tianna, just wants and a hollowness. She shook her shaky focus from her mind, releasing the thoughts and feelings of the others as best she could before she rolled onto her side, pulling the covers over her head.
“Something is better than nothing…” Eleanor grumbled while hugging her pillow close again, and she nestled her face in it, wishing it held the same warmth as her moments with Tianna.
The time started to slip by as Eleanor drifted back to sleep, and the night slowly faded away into the morning that failed to reach her under the blankets. The morning left without her, and noon patiently waited with Eleanor managing to wake up just before it had to fade.
She forced her heavy body from the bed with a groan, and her feet shuffled over the wooden floors until she made it to the shower. Barely moving through the motions, she managed to find more energy under the cascade of the cold water as she failed to set the temperature properly, and after a string of curses, a broken shower rod, and several new curses she managed to finish her shower. Eleanor whined as she dried off herself, the floor, and the wall outside of the shower before she moved back to her bedroom.
“Right… Laundry…” Eleanor frowned with another defeat before grabbing her shirt and skirt from the previous day to wear.
Eleanor pulled on her leather coat as well, freeing her wet hair from beneath it, and she left her room to descend the stairs. She found her way to the bar’s kitchen where an older man was working on preparing the food for the day.
“Rough morning?” he questioned while Eleanor began rummaging through the cabinets, and she gave him a reluctant nod, “I heard the crashing around up there.”
“Last night?” Eleanor paused as she looked at him.
“No… about thirty minutes ago,” he furrowed his brows as he briefly met her gaze, and her cheeks turned red before he shook his head, “Late night as well then.”
“I…” she quickly grabbed a box of cereal and a bowl while he focused on his preparations, “Have a nice day Jack,” she nearly blurted while trying to make her escape.
“Eleanor,” he stated, and she froze, “Spoon.”
“Right,” she could not be more embarrassed as she grabbed it, and once again she tried to escape.
“Eleanor…” he sighed, and she nearly fell as she stopped again, “Milk.”
Eleanor discovered she could be more embarrassed, and she quickly grabbed it before he stopped her yet again.
“Girl... just finish prepping it,” he shook his head in disappointment, but all she felt was amusement from him.
“Right… thanks,” Eleanor sighed in defeat before she set to work on doing it properly.
Not another word was spoken between the two as she filled her bowl with cereal, only his calm aura and whispering amusement found her mind. Slowly she settled, pouring the milk over the clustered pieces before putting it away. Eleanor stepped over to the small table that resided at the back of the kitchen, choosing to stay in Jack’s company as she sat herself down to breakfast.
His calm always invited her to stay, and all he ever asked of her were things she was more than capable of. Their friendship was unspoken, yet unending as Jack placed a cup of coffee before her with the scent of coco whispering from it. Eleanor smiled softly at the drink, and Jack took her empty bowl before cleaning it up, leaving her to gather herself for the day.
Eleanor enjoyed the quiet, sipping her coffee until emotions of others slowly came to scratch at the back of her mind, and she finished off her drink. She was sure to take care of the cup before she joined Jack in his food preparation.
“How have things been?” Eleanor ended their comfortable silence in favor of friendly conversation.
“Mostly quiet, but Rith got back last night,” he hummed, “And with Tianna back as well, I’m sure it won’t be too quiet anymore.”
“Too quiet?” Eleanor raised an eyebrow.
“Don’t get any ideas,” he huffed in warning, but there was warmth in his voice.
“Right, heh, no ideas here,” Eleanor flashed a sheepish grin.
“Mmm… I doubt that,” Jack eyed her for a moment, “You’re a smart girl, Ellie.”
“Yeah…” her smile grew awkward, “So… anyone else out or around?”
“Avery came in a few hours ago, muttering nonsense before he stole two bottles and went to his room,” Jack shook his head with a sigh.
“Avery or Avery?” Eleanor raised her eyebrow again.
“How should I know?” Jack huffed, “How can you tell anything with those twinsouls?”
“Avery is more… sound,” Eleanor tried, “And Avery is more… passionate?”
“I…” Jack shook his head, “I’ll take your word for it, but… anyways Jamie should be back from his supply run in a day or two.”
“Three,” Eleanor corrected him.
“I’m not going to question it,” Jack huffed in amusement while holding his hands up with voices from the bar reaching them, and his eyes flickered towards the door.
“Sounds like Stin and Rith,” Eleanor hummed, and the door burst open.
“HI ELEANOR!” a man shouted enthusiastically with a wave that was offset by him swaying his head, using all the energy in the world.
“Hi Stin,” she gave a small wave in return with a crooked smile.
“That is all,” Stin bowed his head before stepping out, and Jack let out a heavy sigh.
“It’s going to be one of those days...” Jack sighed, shaking his head, and an amused sigh left Eleanor before the door opened again with a scarlet gaze finding them.
“Good morning Eleanor,” Carrigan stated, and Eleanor’s eyes flickered to her, “Hale wants you in Lumi’s lab.”
“Was… was there something wrong with the drives?”
