Back to le girlies P.O.V
It was the day of the party and I had come up with a cohesive plan that did involve Riku, just not in the way he suggested. The party was nearing its end and Riku and I met up in the corridor outside of the dining room to go over the plan once more. Once we were certain we had it down it was time for the execution. I walked back into the dining room making my way over to the area where we gave all the announcements. “I have an announcement, if i could have your attention for just a moment.” As everyone's eyes were on me I prayed that this would work because it was my only option. “I know that I am supposed to be picking one of you to be my husband and take over the Yakuza with me, however that will not be happening today due to my conflict of interest.” I paused for a moment and before I could explain, one of the sons of the lower level of members yelled “So what, you're just not gonna get married?”
I was startled at the sudden outburst but at least they were believing it so far. “On the contrary, I cannot select one of you today because I am already married. That is why I've been putting off these parties.” Everyone was shocked, gasps echoed through the dining hall and another outburst occurred. “So you married some commoner in secret?” “Incorrect again, several months ago I married a member of the second richest family in our little circle.” Everyone looked around in shock as Riku walked over to me. “That's right men, she's off the market sorry to disappoint.” He said as he buttoned his suit jacket and put a hand around my back pulling me into him slightly. “So what is this Riku? A business play?” One of the higher ups asked.
“Not at all, I don't mix business and personal. Let's be professional about this and not cause any more commotion for me and my wife.” The room went silent and slowly the guests stopped speculating and eased back into the original atmosphere of the room. Riku and I managed to slip back into the corridor after some light conversation about our wedding and things of that nature. “Oh my god.” He said with a relieved sigh. “We did it, it worked.” I said as we hugged each other. “Did Not work on everybody.” I heard a familiar voice say as I looked up, standing behind Riku was my father. “Dad, I can explain.” I said flustered as I broke away from Riku. “No need.” He said, sounding monotone as he walked towards us. I was startled as he put his hands on my shoulders.
I was shocked when he pulled me into a hug. “Uh- dad?” “That was brilliant, you're just like your mother.” He said as he released me from that suffocating hug. “Wait so you're not mad then.” I questioned. “Of course not, deer you forget that I raised you. I knew you would pull something like this.” “Well that's a relief.” Riku added as the tension faded. My father walked away and we practically jumped for joy.
“Hey princess, if you don't hurry up we're gonna be late.” Riku yelled, sitting outside the bathroom waiting for me to finish getting ready. “No we're not going to be late, we were only late last time because you just had to smoke before we left.” I yelled back from inside the bathroom. “I wouldn't have had to smoke before we left if you'd just let me smoke in the car.” He snapped back. “Just because you insist on trashing your lungs doesn't mean I want to.” I said back as I rolled my eyes at this situation. “That's what the windows are for.” He said back. “If you're going to put all the windows down the wall in the car, I might as well just run alongside the car in the middle of the road.” “Geeze, we fight like an old married couple.” “Well that's kinda the idea.” I said as I walked out of the bathroom.
“Damn.” Riku said as he looked over his shoulder at me, quickly turning around for a better look. “What?” I was kind of confused. “Nothing, you just look really good.” He said as he looked away scratching the back of his head trying not to stare. “Oh don't tell me you're actually falling for me, we've only been fake married for four months.” He didn't answer, he just gave me a look that said ‘Stop talking before I sit back down.’ “Come on, let's go before the car leaves without us.” I grabbed my clutch and we walked out of our penthouse getting in the elevator. On our way down we chatted about the event we were going to. “Oh and by the way I'll be leaving town on business for a few days on friday.” He said with no further context.
“Ok, care to elaborate or am I on need of knowing?” I asked about understanding the need for confidentiality. I couldn't really pry considering that I went on a ‘business trip’ myself a few weeks ago and left out the small detail that I was going to off one of the hostages from a rival group and send his head back to them. “No it's just a meeting with the Chaowtoe group, apparently I have to go.” “Well you are from the Emori clan so your presence sounds necessary. You father did a lot of business with the Chaowtoe group when he was first starting out.” “Yeah but I'm just sick of all these meetings I took over the company last year, youd think theyd have figured out I know what I'm doing by now.” He said, sounding a little annoyed. “Yeah well you'll just have to go and show 'em’ again.” I said cheerfully as I nudged his arm a bit with my own. He let out a light laugh and the elevator binged. We got off and made our way out to the car.
