The expression "I fold" mean "I give up."
It is a reference to poker.
This comic is about origami.
To me, it is a very obvious joke, likely decended from Homer Simpson's attempt to make breakfast (https://youtu.be/a-DlCdhsIIU) but if I recall, the joke did not go over well, when originally published.
