Okay so a few things.
First, this is a book two. The first book is called Loving the Fighter and can be found on my profile.
Secondly, all previous trigger warnings apply.
And lastly, things are going to be a bit different this time around.
It's no secret that Jax was the main character of LTF but in this one, all five of them are. So we'll get a lot more of everyone's POV.
Along with that, chapters are going to be longer so I can hopefully but down on chapters this time around. This means updates might not come quite as frequently but as all of you know by now, I still update a lot.
Just a reminder I stream my writing session on twitch if anyone is interested in that. I use the same display name here as I do there. The link is in my bio!
And just one more thing, please don't be rude to me, my characters, or others in the comments.
Trauma is effects everyone differently and that's what this whole book is about.
Also you guys are getting this before the Wattpad guys so don't tell them 😅
Thank you for your time,
Emma Rose
Jax's POV
"How do I look," I asked no one in particular as I walked over to the mirror in the bathroom.
"Sexy as always," Ryder teased, making me glare at him a bit as I attempted to sooth a wrinkle out of the shirt.
"It's a tattoo shop babe," Liam said as he looked up from the box he was unpacking while handing stuff to Ryder so he could put it away. "You look a amazing but if anything you might be over dressed."
"Great, and now I don't have time to change," I say with a groan as I try to wipe some of the sleep out of my eyes.
I had to be at the tattoo shop I was going to be apprenticing at in a few minutes and because I had over slept there wasn't time to do anything else.
It's not exactly my fault that I over slept though.
I mean we had an actual king sized bed that we all easily fit in and it felt like sleeping on clouds. How could you not over sleep in that thing?
I couldn't help but jump a bit when someone came up behind me and put a hand on my shoulders.
"You look amazing, sexy, and badass," Callum said as he pulled my hand away from the wrinkle I was trying to get out before going to the collar of my shirt. "This isn't an interview. You already get to learn there, no you just need to make a good impression." He while making sure my collar was lying down.
"I don't tend to make good impressions," I grumbled as my hands went to my hair, trying to get the bed head out of it.
"Yet people like you anyway," Ryder said happily. "That's how you know you're a likable person."
"You're going to do be amazing," Callum said again as his lips went down to my neck and began to suck, no doubt leaving a hickey right below the collar.
"And now I have a hickey," I groaned as I pushed him off.
"Like Ryder said," Callum, whispered, his free hand sliding down to grab my ass. "You look insanely sexy. I need to let all the straight girls and curious males know that you're taken."
I only roll my eyes as I step away from him while I push a blush down.
"Well I need to head out. I'll be back in an hour or so I guess. If you guys are going to leave, leave a note please so I don't freak out."
"We will," Liam assured as he got up and give me a quick kiss. "Good luck. You'll do great."
I only mumbled out a thanks as I walked out the door. I think Ryder said something else but I didn't hear him.
None of us had a car yet and it didn't look like there was a train or city bus that ran to the shop but I had walked there yesterday and it didn't take long to get there so at least that was good.
I was able to make it to the shop a few minutes before my appointment time so at least that was good.
The first thing I noticed when I first stepped in was the colorful wall. No wall in here was the same color. The second thing I noticed was the framed pictures of tattoos that hung at random around the shop.
"How can I help you," a girl at the front desk asked, making me look away from the shop and to her instead. She had blue and pink hair that was tied into a bun and was wearing a yellow plaid shirt.
"I'm supposed to be meeting with Dayton," I say as I try to calm my nerves.
"Oh you're that kid from camp?" I only nod. "Cool, I'm Kate by the way. You're Jaxon right," he asked as she stuck out her hand.
"Just Jax," I correct while grabbing her hand and shaking it, probably with a harder grip than need be but it was out of habit.
"Okay then Jax, let me go grab Dayton real quick and then he'll start explaining everything." I don't even have time to nod before she is walking off.
I turn back around to take in the shop again. I normally didn't like off set walls but it some how worked here. Maybe it was because of all the frames or the neon lights that matched the walls color but I actually liked it.
"Sorry about that. I honestly wasn't really expecting you to show up," a deep voice said, making me jump more than I had liked. "If you want to come with me, we can talk in my office."
I had already prepared myself for a big dude when I first heard that voice, but nothing could have prepared me for what I ended up seeing.
This dude was at least 6'7 and was nothing but pure muscles. His hair was buzzed cut and his eyes were a dark brown, which matched his skin tone almost perfectly.
I didn't like this man.
Carter nearly fronted at the sheer sight of him.
If anything happened and he came at us, I doubt Carter could hold him off for more than a few minutes.
Nevertheless when he turned around and walked away, I followed him.
"Pick any seat you like," he grumbled out when we got to office. He went to sit behind his desk so I choose to sit in the chair in front of him while he pulled out a folder with me name on it.
For a second I got pissed off, thinking Andrew gave him a copy of our stuff from camp until I noticed that this wasn't Andrew's handwriting and that Andrew wouldn't do that.
"So it's Jaxon right," he asked as he thumbed through the folder.
"Just Jax."
"Why? Don't like Jaxon or something? Is it a dead name?" He asked as he peaked up at me with an unreadable expression. I didn't bother asking what a dead name was.
"I just don't like it," I state simple as I forced myself to not freak out considering Carter was ready to front at any second. If I didn't ground he was coming out and I probably wouldn't be able to push him back.
Dayton hummed before looking back down at the folder.
"Andrew sends me all of his kids that want to go into the tattoo business," he starts, still not looking at me. "Most of them don't last 3 months before they are back to old habits. My shop only requires a one year apprenticeship but its pretty much an all day every day thing. You do get paid but I'll be honest it's not a great wage. Are you willing to stick with this for a year or should I go ahead and show you the door now and prepare myself to see on the street in the next few months?"
"I can do it," I say as I force my cold mask on. It felt weird wearing it now that I haven't needed it in well over 5 months if not more. "I'm not going back to the way things were before." Dayton only hummed.
"What did you do that got you to camp," he asked as he put the folder on the desk and readied a pen. I swear if this turns into therapy part 2 I will throw a chair.
"I was a street fighter," I say harshly. His eyes shot up to me and I'm not sure if it was because of the harshness or what I had said but he didn't say anything as he wrote it down.
"Andrew told me you had DID but didn't tell me what it is. Is it anything like IED?"
"I don't know what that is. I don't even fully understand DID but I basically have another person living in my head," I said, trying to repeat Andrew's words and I got to admit, it sounds stupider when you are the one saying it.
"Oh it's that multiple personality thing?" I nod again. "How many do you have?"
"Just one right now, his name is Carter." Dayton hummed as he wrote that down.
"Is he going to be a problem," he asked, his voice loosing all tone.
"What do you mean by a problem," I asked, my cold mask gone as I full out glare at him. Dayton must have figured out that he should have worded that better because he was back peddling.
"I just meant is he going to interfere with you doing a job?"
"Carter is here to help," I state harshly, surprisingly making Dayton flinch back a bit. "He's my protector. As long as no one intends on pushing me up against a wall and punching the shit out of me, Carter won't even have to front here." Dayton cleared his throat.
"I didn't mean to strike a nerve," he says, his voice and expression turning apologetic. "Is there anything we need to do here that will make it easier for you two?"
"Not that I can think of," I say, my glare still very much present.
"Then I'll see you here at 7 am on Monday. Do you have a phone so I can call you if anything changes?"
That was an overly stupid question. I got out of a crime camp three days ago and he thinks I've had the time or money to get a phone set up?
"I don't have a phone. My boyfriend mentioned getting one today but I don't know if he actually did." His eyes go wide at the word 'boy friend' making Carter tense.
Say something, he threatened, already getting ready to front. I fucking dare you.
"Well if you get one before Monday it would be helpful for you to stop by and give your number," he said as he stood up. "I can't wait to start working with you."
Ryder's POV
This budget was starting to kick my ass.
I had started it shortly after Jax left since Liam said he needed a food break but since we didn't have any food in the apartment yet he went to get some for everyone.
We were honestly just lucky we had all started saving our money that our sponsors sent after last Town Day. If we hadn't we would have to wait until our first round of checks to come in before we had anything to eat.
"How's that pen tasting," Callum asked as he came up behind me to take the pen out of my mouth and looked down at my scratch paper.
"I hate budgeting," I groaned as I leaned back against the chair, making him chuckle a bit.
"I thought Jax was going to handle this?"
"He was but I was going to help take something off his plate since I'm the only one without a job yet. I figured I could do more the apartment work in the mean time."
"Which is very kind of you, but no offence, you kind of suck at budgeting. And Jax would probably feel better if he was doing it anyway."
"Then what am I supposed to do," I said with a pout. All of my stuff was already put away; most of Liam's stuff was too. Jax said he wanted to do his own stuff and Callum was nearly done.
And I couldn't get stuff for the apartment like silverware to plates yet because we all agreed it would be best if we wait on that until after the first round of checks came out.
"We could watch a movie until Jax and Liam get back and then we can dip into savings and get a few basic phones."
"Yea but that feels like we are just wasting time."
"Babe," he says as he turns the chair around so I'm facing him. His hands go to cup my cheeks. "You're stressing out on me. We just got out of a crime camp after being there for three years. We are allowed to waste a little bit of time."
"I still don't like it," I say with another pout, making Callum smirk. I knew all too well what that smirk meant.
"Well I know something you will like," he whispered as he let go of my face. His hands moving down to my dick while his lips press against my neck.
I can't help the small moan that is released when his hand gently brushed over my dick.
"Daddy please," I whined as I left my hips up to him, hoping to get more pressure.
"Please what?"
"Please touch me harder."
"Touch you? Is that all you want," he asked as his slipped farther down to grope my ass. "Or do you want something else?"
"Fuck me daddy."
Liam's POV
Walking into the apartment and seeing clothes scattered everywhere was almost annoying. I mean come on; we just got the place, could we not keep it clean for a few days?
"Yea I know," a voice said, making me jump as I turn to the living room. I find myself calming down when I see Carter sitting on the couch with the TV playing the nature channel. "They've been going at it ever since I got here and I can't find the remote."
"Well I come with food and I want to hear how your day was," I say as I drop the fast food bags off in the kitchen before picking out what I got for me and Carter and coming back to the living room.
"I don't like the boss," Carter admits as he opens the box of food. "He's really big and tall and he can have a bad attitude."
"Do you think it will be bad for you to be there?"
"Probably not, Jax kind of went off on him so he probably won't be a problem for too much longer but I still don't like him."
"Well that sucks."
"Yea but we did find out that Jax will get an hourly wage. Dayton, that's the boss, said it's not very much but considering we weren't expecting to get anything, this is pretty good news."
"That's awesome at least. Anything will help. We shouldn't be too bad with money anyway. I mean four bodies living in one apartment, three of which bringing home money already, without any car insurance or anything like that. We should be fine." Carter only shrugged.
"When do you start college?"
"Not until August. I'll be full time Target until I start school and then I'll go to part time."
"I know I'm not the smartest here but if you ever need help studying, I can try to help," he mumbled with a small blush. It still felt so weird to see Jax's body blush.
"I would love that."
We were quiet for about three seconds before another loud moan came from the bedroom. Carter physically cringed as he stared at the TV.
"Do you want to go do something," I asked just to hide the moans a bit more. "We still need phones after all. We could go ahead and get at least ours set up."
"Can we even afford phones right now?"
"We can if we get older, non Apple stuff. We can always get better ones in a few months or something when we are better off." Carter hummed as if he wasn't sure if he actually wanted to go but Callum's dirty talk was enough to get him off the couch.
"I'll write the note," he said before disappearing into the kitchen. I still couldn't get over the fact that we had a kitchen and a dining room in our apartment, let alone a living room. This was such a big step up from the cabin at camp.
"Ready to go," I asked when Carter steps back into the living room.
"Yep. Hopefully they'll be done by the time we get back."
"I seriously doubt that," I said with a small chuckle before slamming the door on my way out as a hint to Callum that he has a time limit.
