I wish I could say I was writing this character's struggles entirely from my imagination, but a lot of what he's experiencing is based off of my own story. However, his response is a lot less healthier than mine was - but that's how it often is - broken people tend to push away the ones they need the most. Swag has come to equate "not measuring up to others' desires for me" as full on rejection, that's why he has such a strong reaction to a seemingly small conflict with his buddy.
